YES
THANK YOU FOR BEING THE ONLY OTHER PERSON WHO'S HEARD ABOUT THIS
I realize that Se-Dol said he would completely rekt AlphaGo with no losses, but to be honest I'm rooting for a perfect 5-0 victory in the algorithm's favor. Go is supposed to be extremely difficult to program into a computer, so this would be a huge victory for AI development if successful.
YEEESSSS! Like none of my friends even know about this and I was like who would know about this? @Kuroi
The whole match was really close, I watched part of it and it was really interesting to see some of the intricacies of Go being presented by the commentators.
Okay, @SpadeZ1 you know how professional chess players were beat by programs a long time ago? Well, the ancient Chinese board game, Go, presents a much more difficult computational challenge because there are many many many more combinations that a computer can look through, meaning programs can't "brute force" solutions like in chess.
@SpadeZ1 AlphaGo is a complex algorithm built by Google's Deep Mind project center people thingys. It's a program that uses neural networks to play Go. It's interesting how Google Deep Mind first trained it to play against simulations/real (im not sure on this part) professional players to first improve. They then had it play against past iterations of itself so it could develop its own play style.
