Pretty much. Basically, this poll is now completely redundant and now Undertale fans are gonna praise it for "winning fairly" against other far better games (HOW DID I BEAT SM64?!), even though there's bots doing some dirty work.
No, not yet. But, yet is the key word. Just because it hasn't yet doesn't mean it can't be one of the greatest ever. When OoT came out it hadn't, but look at it now.
OoT gave an open world experience and was one of, if not, the first 3D games to be created and be successful (along with the likes of SM64), which ultimately impacted the industry. I mean, look at the amount of games that are made in 3D now, and open world is often a goal in mind when making those games.
Vez, I could say the exact same thing to any game ever. Gar, Undertale is also unique. Will it change the way the gaming industry works? We don't know. Nobody ever does.
For the gaming community, well it's blown up and caused a lot of hate and even more love. It also made a wave of nostalgia, being similar to classics like Earthbound. Finally, the music. The music has inspired hundreds of remixes already and has shown that retro-style music is still really good.
Honestly, it's not the game that's bad (the music is honestly amazing), but it starts to go stale after a fair share of Undertale shitposts, seeing the endings and watching people react to Lesser Dog.
I realise, the impact won't be so obvious, but it's been like four months and it hasn't really exploded like FNaF/Minecraft did. Sure, FNaF clearly showed what made a bad horror game, but it still had the influence of showing that.
Undertale blew up just about as much as FNaF. And yes, the shitposts can be annoying. But any game gets stale eventually. Most people would only play OoT once maybe twice, but the average Undertale player plays it twice, and sometimes thrice.
