Yoshi is menTioned as a species NEAR dinosaurs, so he can be a dragon + In Super Mario World the coins (Yashi coins) are called "Dragon coins". I/We don't really know if Yoshi is a dragon or a dinosaur...Personally i see him more as a dinosaur since we see yoshi as a dragon ONLY in SSB brawl and SSB Wii U/3DS. And we know that the SSB series are trophies/Plushes.
