Yup - luckily it happened while my brother was here, and he had a friend with a spare motherboard. My PC got upgraded (better motherboard/processor, and spare RAM), and my brother bought me a new SSD drive to re-install the OS on, which has really made it faster.

Unfortunately, the new motherboard didn't fit in my old case, but brute force popped several rivets and bent the metal, with this result: http://i.imgur.com/EXzZLPi.jpg
My PC is up and running better than before, just need to get a new case when I get round to it.
