I agree, first runs didn't go too hot, but I just had an amazing run with Brimstone and a run with Ludo+Guppy :D

If you think that's hard, just wait until you get The Lost xD

I think I will die at Basement 1 with the lost, I take way too much stupid damage xD

You will. A lot. But, there are always those lucky runs when you actually get a useful item on the first floor, so you can actually get to the second floor and hopefully farther. Like yesterday when I beat the boss rush, satan, and the lamb as the lost.
