Smash as a series isn't the reason. But I can very much doubt that sm4sh would've become a thing w/o the competitive scene.

I hate it when people think that a game only happens because of competitive, or whatever, the original Smash didn't have a competitive scene, how did it get popular? Oh yea... THE CHARACTERS! It's not all competitive this, competitive this,

You see, without the competitive scene, the games never would've gotten popular enough to warrant more sequels. In fact, Brawl was supposed to be the last. So was Melee(I think). But because of the popularity gained from the competitive scene, it got more.

This is a bad petition... Items are just for fun. I don't think that's how it should be played. With items on, people would be depending on them and not being skillful.

If items had to be on at all times, our meta game would be absolute trash.

Look, I'm sorry, I'm just pissed off that games have to be "competitive" in order to be good, or popular, at least that's what I'm hearing from you. That's not true, Super Mario Sunshine, an amazing game, it's popular now, it's not competitive due to it being single player.

Not all games have to be competitive. But you calling the competitive boring is rather stupid. And look. Sm4sh would probably not exist w/o the competitive. No matter what you say, that won't change.

And even games with a competitive side don't have to be all competitive. But for most games, the competitive side is larger, if it exists. You can't change that.

Without Melee's large popularity after it's "revival", Brawl wouldn't have happened. Which means Sm4sh wouldn't have. You don't make sequels to an unpopular game. Nobody would fund it. Nor would the creators even want to work on it nearly as much.
