Silent Expanse time trial grades

?

Can you get S rank in the Silent Expanse, and how does your horse compare to 60 in all stats?

Having now gone through and done all the time trials at least once, I can say that most of the non-S+ trial grades are reasonable enough. I've been able to get S on all of them, with two exceptions. I'm 7 seconds too slow on the Sky Island's S rank with a run that feels decent enough, but my wyvern's max speed of 50 may be an issue. The Silent Expanse's is a completely different issue, though. My 2:22 PB could maybe become a 2:15 with some time and patience, but that's only for A, the S rank of 2:05 feels entirely unobtainable. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say a horse with 60 in all stats should probably be able to have a chance at most non-S+ challenges, and I don't think I have a skill issue problem, as I got Fruma's S rank on my first completed attempt. Please lower the A and S ranks by 10-15 seconds at least, they should not feel exponentially harder than any other time trial in the game.

The Silent Expanse S rank was by far the hardest; I think it's just about reasonable, but only just. It took me several tries with a pre-Fruma white horse and even then only squeezed by with literally 0.03 seconds to spare. I don't mind it being difficult to get, although that might be a bit excessive. I cannot fathom how anyone could get the S+ however. I do like that the later trials do feel considerably harder than the early ones; I assume they were constructed with a better mount in mind.

My mount was, pre-Fruma, 35/35. This translates to 140/140 across the board post-Fruma.

I tried it a lot and I feel like if I'd done it enough I would've gotten S-rank? But for every other horse trial, even the Fruma one, it was pretty easy, I almost always got S-rank first try unless I ran into water (and even then, my first successful try would be S). I think a significant part of the problem is how many awkward corners there are; hitting any kind of staircase or slope at an angle, especially stuff like the spiral staircase at the start, kills your speed and therefore throws out any chance of clearing S.

My distinct thought throughout my attempts was "you know, normal racing games have balanced vehicles". The idea of the Time Trial makes sense but is inherently unbalanced, because any Trial can be defeated by spending more money and time on making a better mount. Older players massively benefit in horse trials because horses created before the mount update are disproportionately strong. (As far as I know, mounts start off at 240 potential and can get around 240 maximum every breeding rank, so if you want to equal my was-very-cheap-at-the-time Dungeon Chestnut you need 5 generations, aka 32 mounts, and each successive generation will eat significantly more time and resources since you have to actually train the mounts. If you're doing this with no rank, heaven help you. Of course there's some diminishing returns thing, nobody's really analysed it in detail at least on the wiki.) Hence, why every horse trial except SE was trivial. Of course I'll have to make myself a wyvern for the wyvern trials, so I have to read up on how to do that properly, and I'll probably be lazy and buy an adasaur off the TM.

I had the same and ended up with 120s (which started from 1/60/120) absolute scam

I'll note that none of the time trials use adasaurs if that's what you mean

I own a 1.4k horse (with some strange stat distribution) but its main stats are all 140+ (some are 160) and even I struggled with S on a few races, S+ for most races (except Autumnal strangely enough and obviously the black road race) are pretty much impossible for me, I'm pretty sure a 1.6k new horse is required to get the full rank, maybe a 1.5k or 1.4k if your god tier or got lucky with owning an old one and your horse doesn't decide to have its velocity die on a bush or something.
