Listen, I get it. The idea is that dungeons are a main pull for those going up through the levels, with the forgery being an entry-to-endgame loop with nice rewards for running the gauntlet. Why, then, does the Forgery, and somewhat the entire dungeon system, feel dated in comparison to the rest of the world? I think it only needs a few tweaks to be brought up to speed, and one is to spread maybe 3 or 4 new, unique dungeons throughout the Gavel province.

I'm not saying the Forgery has to go entirely, but at least give us some variation. I think it's a change that doesn't need to happen immediately, and it might already be in the works and I just didn't know!

All I know is that I'd be more interested in running dungeons if it wasn't just the same one I ran 60 levels ago, but now with lava. (Might just be a "me problem" but we'll see.)

As always, love to the content team and the amazing work they put in to make the game so fun and addictive!

tl;dr Gavel needs a dungeon rework desperately.

I think Wynn is well designed because dungeons are spread throughout the entire province and they all have their own quests (except TLS) which makes dungeons feel like a natural part of progression. But in Gavel, every dungeon is in one single place without a single quest and they're all just worse-looking versions of previous dungeons. It makes them boring and essentially removes them from natural progression with how substantially more difficult it is to access them in natural gameplay compared to normal dungeons.
I wouldn't mind the Forgery if it was just a "hard difficulty" for previous dungeons in addition to Gavel's own dungeons. But it's not. The corrupted dungeons are Gavel's dungeons.

See, I mostly agree with your statement that the entire system feels outdated. I disagree that it's the same dungeon you ran 60 levels ago but with lava; there's a decent chance you never bothered to run it 60 levels ago because dungeons are objectively terrible for an average player to use to either level or get gear.

I've been doing a playthrough with a friend who hasn't played before, and they basically didn't want to do any dungeons since decrepit sewers (we're in the 50s now) except ice barrows because the mechanics were buggy, and most of the rewards would already be several levels old by the time you actually get them. Four runs of a dungeon that gives ⅔ of the xp you need to level up means that you'll go through nearly 3 levels by the time you get the gear; due to the amount of gear you can get over the course of 2-3 levels for most of the game there's a very decent chance you'd get something better from just playing the actual game during that time. You get tons of xp but miss most of the content which, if you've done a good job designing the game, is a bad thing.

Dungeons, as they are in the game, are not good. They are not bad. They are just generic and that might honestly be worse. Raids have more interesting challenges and relevant rewards, along with a slew of other mechanics to make them interesting, lootruns are incredibly unique, and because dungeons have niche almost never useful loot, they are completely outside the realm of what most players actually do. Raids do repeatable challenges better. Lootruns do epic rewards better. Dungeons need their own thing. At first raids were multiplayer dungeons but dungeons are just boring single player raids.

Dungeons need: their own gameplay mechanic
    Their own reward
And the main topic of the post, better integration into the rest of the game.
