I feel like the easiest patch-job to profs that would make them not a mind-numbing grind is to make Gathering XP gain get higher the higher your combat level. Alternatively, make this exclusive to Craftsmen.

This seems like an interesting idea but I don't think it'd be able to be implemented well enough.

Honestly good idea, need some kind of revamp to profs, completion is not enough of an incentive for me to go through hell :sob:

profs are horrible and i'm not touching them, they need to be fixed, this is one of the simpler patch-jobs

So the main thing is, are you going to roll over what everyone already has or is it going to be just a 1 to 1 ratio. If you 1 to 1 ratio it based on the player level, people who grinded for it are going to feel like everything they did didn't matter. If you roll it over so they're higher than the max then they'll be happy but people who can only have their professions up to level 105/106 are going to feel incredibly shafted even if they didn't actually put the time and effort in to prof. Proffing right now feels like something you can only do late game due to the level of ingredients and the actual knowledge needed to know what to do, moving it to a level by level basis would be interesting but then how does the Gathering factor in.

The suggestion is to increase xp yield, not to make the levels require less. There wouldn't be any 'rolling over' to be done like in the case of Fruma's level cap increase

This further incentives the "Wait until your max level to do profession" thing.
Professions have a long list of issues, and one of those is the fact that it's something players are incentivized to ignore till the very end of the game.
(There's a long list of reason this is, chief among them being that making an item you will want to wear takes about the same amount of time as leveling 10 times.)
This, just doesn't make it better, like at all.

Honestly I would personally, rework professions.. almost entirely, but I think just lowering the XP requirement without needing the whole "scaling at higher levels" thing, is the way to go here.
It's a much simpler version of what your asking for, and still makes professions less mind-numbing.
