Im a fairly new player and I really enjoy Wynncraft. I do think though, there is one problem with the game, that makes many new players leave the game. When you start playing, youll have a lot of questions, even basic ones, like, where can I sell my stuff? How can i get past the mountains to a specific city? I tried local chat to ask some of the questions, but in local chat, people dont really engage with another. It doesnt seem like a mmorpg with a lot of chatting and player interaction. This demotivated me at first, and I was thinking about quitting the game. Sure, with time passing, I could answer my questions myself, but it still left a feeling, that there is not much player to player interaction and the world felt empty. I really think, it would help the game, to make the shouts, where all people can read your message, for free, instead, there should me a timer, that you can write one message every 2 minutes or so, to not spam the world chat. It would help to make the game feel more alive, especially since the amount of players isnt that huge, as it once was. For mmorpg`s its crucial, that they feel alive with lots of player interaction. You get this interaction later, with raids and guilds etc. but you`re gonna loose a lot of new players, who only get a seemingly single player-expericence. Lots of other mmorpgs know this, and have a world chat, especially if they dont have millions of users. I dont know, whether the gain of new players will outprofit the current selling of chat vouchers, but I wanted this idea to be at least considered. :)
Instead of the current chat vouchers, I want to suggest enabling the world chat for all, but forbidding trade messages. Instead implement trade chat vouchers, if someone wants to buy/sell something in the world chat. That way, wynncraft will seem to be more lively and you can still sell chat messages to people, who want to buy/sell something.

How do you stop players from simply talking about buying and selling in non-trade shouts? No one would ever buy shouts if they came free every two minutes. (That's a lot of shouts, even if you can't accumulate them.)

Is chat not already world chat? I swear I see (normal looking) messages from people on different servers.

OP means global chat from anyone anywhere in any world
side point- i feel like nobody acknowledges the awesome distance based chat system wynn has, its barely mentioned on the wiki, and I have never seen it on any other server! It is so smart to only "hear" messages said near you, AND have them fade with distance!

Huh. So when I'm in Detlas, I only see posts from Detlas and the surrounding regions?

From what I've seen, people who notice the consistently empty chat more sooner believe that people just don't talk on this server rather than consider that Wynncraft has a proximity-based system

Mostly because a proximity-based chat isn't exactly something most Minecraft servers have

    hsb skyblock has it ish
it's only people who are on the same island as you and on the same server, but unlike wynncraft there's no cross-server stuff and some islands are really big so (also i don't play skyblock i just used to think it was slightly cool pls don't yell at me)

Aside from the shout part, Wynncraft could really do with different chat types like Warframe does, so you could disable Trade chat but keep General chat on. This would also come with Party chat and Guild chat, and you would be able to just change your current chat easily so you wouldn't have to type /p with every message just to keep talking to your party, for example.

Also, it would be cool to more effectively show how far away someone is when they chat, but that's less of an issue.
