There’s been quite a few new powder special major ID’s, and I’ve been a huge fan of the concept. They offer a fresh perspective on such an old concept, as well as breathing new versatility in old/more forgotten weapons. I’m excited to see more in the future.

I thought about one for curse that could be utilized on more mobile archetypes, like Acrobat or, less so, battle monk. (However, I like this concept significantly more on Acrobat, or, more specifically, a dagger made for Acrobat.)

GEYSER: Curse becomes a 10% damage boost for 10 seconds, shooting you into the air around 10-15 blocks. A geyser model or set of water and air particles will shoot beneath you, dealing an instant 100% neutral damage, 100% water damage, and 50% air damage to anything that is beneath you/around you in a 2 block radius from the player. (Like a frog dance proc, just smaller in radius)

It’d be strange on something like bmonk, I’ll admit, but I feel it’s perfect on something like Acrobat, as charging the special could be done while building momentum, then, you could swan dive into a geyser special proc back into the air, adding to the damage and air time, while still retaining your boosted dash.

I’d love to hear more on this concept, since any sort of buff to movement is a plus to me.

Would it ever be possible to apply something like this to an armor special? Concentration as a concept, name, and mechanic works like building up momentum/pressure with the more spells used, so, maybe having an ability that can be proc’d with using curse could work? Removing the damage bonus, of course, keeping the spell damage and height of geyser.

Alright, maybe one more idea. Curse seems to work better for debuffs/over time buffs, and I’ll leave armor specials out of the concept. Maybe this concept could work for something like wind prison. Currently, wind prison has the ability to give one powerful hit multiplier to any hit, and its concept plays on it being an enveloping force that collapses into the target, once a melee hit or spell procs it.

With the geyser concept, it could be remade into something like “Gale’s Grasp”, where casting it procs a gust of wind, shooting you—let’s say—15 blocks into the air. The gust of wind stuns any Mob around you in a 3 block radius, remaining stunned until they are damaged. The initial jump, also, deals a set 400% damage (100% neutral and 300% air.)

I really like this concept, so arguing it is fun for me. Any sort of “damage through movement” is just my favorite sort of concept, like flying kick, frog dance, Acrobat as a whole, even boltslinger with escape. It’s just such a fun way to play, and, gives way to so many satisfying moments.

I don't think any of the suggestions you've made have an understanding of what Curse does. It is not Quake or Chain Lightning.

No offense but I feel like you should've elaborated more on what the "identity of curse" because this is quite a vague criticism

Curse is focused on an AoE debuff. It doesn't deal damage, it applies a curse. A major ID around Curse should be included that, not twist it into a geyser.

powder special majors don't have to keep the identity of the original major (thats pretty much the entire point of having the major) but i do agree that this one isnt that interesting and also just seems weak

quake and chain lightning's both preserve the powder special's identity, they just expand upon it.
