Dedicated command to thank a player in your server. Cooldown period of 6 hours to thank the same player again. Can have a specific target or used with no specification to simply thank every applicable player within a radius. 'Thank you', 'thank', 'thx', 'ty' (and variations) and even 'gg' could activate the command as well without typing it as one.

New statistic in player profiles: Times Thanked, or Thanks Received. Could instead be a private statistic that can only be viewed by the player in-game, perhaps when hovering over the 'Recruit a Friend' Buckler, though would be account-specific nonetheless. The addition of a menu listing all of the players someone can currently thank would facilitate this in bulk when not in range to use the command untargeted.

May only be possible to distribute to players that have shared XP with the sender within a period of time. Could also exchange thanks automatically after completing a trade with another player, and the option could also be given to thank someone that listed something the player bought on the market at checkout. Booster thank-yous would function as they do currently, and would not be affected by the 6 hour cooldown period.

I don't like joining parties or talking in-game very much, and I often think of the asynchronous gratitude of Death Stranding, and the passing ship of summoning and serendipity of meeting the same stranger in From Software games that permit it. I like being a helpful ghost, but for players that would like to feel their own impact on others more regularly in general I feel that an addition like this would nourish that sentiment.

I think an overall commendation system would work better like FFXIV and Destiny.

I think this would be a good idea. Difficult to abuse because there's nothing there but your own knowledge of other players' appreciation. Would encourage more positive behavior and could cut down on bad behavior.

Commendations are usually only distributed to a single player of a group, though, and emphasize performance that is exceptional in some way (either exceptionally good, or someone's obvious first go around). I'd rather people be able to do it like breathing air, with restrictions based only on one player thanking the same player over and over.
