Today I played the new outer voids game-mode, and I'm a fan. If you haven't tried it yet, go do so. I'm writing this for those with a basic understanding of how it works. Anyways, right now there's three major "permanent" utility items you can get. The gloves, the hook base (and its upgrade), and then the final fabled booster upgrade. These all combine to offer a delightful set of movement options. They feel rewarding to play around with and master on their own, and I felt they'd be great in a PvP scenario. I'm sure many of you read that and think that my suggestion would RUIN your casual gameplay, and you'd be right! So, here's what I actually had in mind...

    How To Access
First of all, the PvP mode would be separate from the current outer voids mode. To unlock the PvP mode, all you need is to have the three movement options I mentioned unlocked and upgraded. That way we have a nice base for our combat to keep things exciting.

Now, what do we do once we've got these items? First we will need some sort gateway to take us to this new mode. Since we use a portal to get to the first outer voids area, another portal would be appropriate. We'll position this far enough from everything so that every movement upgrade is needed to get to it. If this is too tricky, a simple hard requirement of carrying these items in your inventory works too.

This portal would transport you to the new sub-mode. This should likely take all players who go through to the same world, like world events. We may need a max number of players per outer voids PvP instance (30+ at least imo), but that's up to debate.

    What's New?
Now, what does this new mode entail? Well, it'd pretty much be the same as the current outer voids area, with a few differences. The most notable of which being that this mode's area has PvP enabled for everyone. Now, what do I mean by this? The outer voids disables all spells, so that's not how PvP is going to go down. Melee only isn't what I had in mind either (thank god, we all know Wynn PvP is terrible). So how will we fight each other? With new craftable PvP utility items of course!

    Unique Items
The new area has its own unique scrap items, each destined for special crafting recipes. Here's a few quick ideas for what PvP items player could craft:
    • "Rocket launchers" that shoot explosive projectiles
    • Void traps players can drop and ensnare players with
    • Transporters that swap your position with another player's. Swap with them as you fall into the void!
    • An item that pushes all nearby players away from you
The sky's the limit here. Some of these should have various cooldowns, and balance restrictions as needed. I'll let Wynn's team figure out the details. Please do share any ideas you have for items in the comments though!

    Mechanics
So, what happens if you kill someone? Simple. They drop all the scrap they had on them! That way you can sell it for yourself. It may be a good idea to make the scrap spawning in this mode serverside instead of client side. That way everyone is going for the same drops. If this was to happen, I'd also dynamically increase the scrap spawn rate based on how many people are in the area. Both of these may not be necessary at all though. It'd also be good to consider how scrap items should drop. Should they drop on the ground, or go straight to the killer's inventory? Who gets the kill credit? What if they died from the void? And the void likely should kill them by the way. Otherwise players could exit combat just by flying down. There should also be a countdown on the exit portal, so you can't teleport away when someone chases you.

    Conclusion

Anyways, this is pretty much the extent of my idea. It brings more replayability and diversity to the outer voids. It gives an option for those who like some excitement, while preserving the casual mode. Comment your feedback and ideas for pvp items below, and also vote in the pool! Thanks!

Pretty good suggestion, my only concern would be making it so that it's not easy to farm in this mode while entirely avoiding pvp. Otherwise it would be too broken for obvious reasons, but if everyone is on the same world then it should be cool.

Huge disagree. This does not fit the design philosophy of the Outer Void at all. Is it meant to be a no danger, calm money making method in the vein of seavale reef, where you can earn a profit without needing other party members and without any risk. This doesn't belong in the Outer Void.

While I do agree with the comment about the design philosophy, this suggestion doesn't seem like it would take place in the same space where current outer void is happening. Theeef is suggesting a new area that's attached/loosely connected to the current outer voids, but clearly separated, so I don't really think it would take away from the current experience, it'd just be a unique alternative that has risks and rewards.

My issue isn't that it would be in the current Outer Void, I am aware that it wouldn't be, my issue is that it would be attached to the Outer Void content at all.

That's fair. I don't really have anything to refute you, we just simply have differing opinions on the matter. I personally would deeply enjoy having an option like this, regardless of whether or not it was the original intent. I'd be equally as happy having a separate content for such a thing, but seeing as one doesn't exist, nor do I forsee them creating one simply for the sake of creating one, using the already existing mechanics for Outer Voids is my next best option. Plus, I love the movement mechanics that are already built in here.
