    Hi,
I agree with the sentiment shared here, in that some rules overall should be made more clear, and the problem resides when new questions and cases are brought up that never existed before, ones that usually require a complex approach or cause unrest within the community. We've already decided to post rule updates in the noticeboard so players who don't visit the forums can still be updated about recent rule changes, but this will occur around January - this doesn't entirely solve the problem at hand so we're also discussing how to better resolve these within the team, and we are open to any suggestions the community might have as well.
A note about the examples given, for transparency's sake:
It is true that the first occasion was a misunderstanding that occurred - the mod thought that showcasing information that isn't a part of the API wouldn't be allowed - since we had recently received information about disallowing such mods, but this was related to the trade market itself, and not guild stats (hence the confusion). Once we discussed the topic as a team and even with admins, it was agreed to allow it.
With the concerns about professionalism - generally we push mods to act professionally when interacting with other players but given that moderators are also players of the game like you are, sometimes that line of talking professionally vs casually can be a bit blurred. Regardless, this is something we do want to improve, and we will be taking more of an active role in ensuring mods act professionally especially when they perform their moderation duties.
For the second example posted you had to be warned due to not only exemplifying how to do it, but actually finding a guild's bot, and explaining to other players how to do the same - to use their bots to take over a guild's private discord (since bots have pretty high perms), and from there do anything they like, even deleting the entire guild server would be doable - something that had to be discouraged.
The harassment cases can actually be pretty gruesome and terrible, which is why we do moderate them even if they might occur in private discords - we are exclusively talking about serious harassment here (for example we don't action a player for insulting others in dms) - if someone was a terrible human being towards another person, we really don't want them to perpetuate this problematic behavior on wynn and giving them access to the victim via our servers. This is present on the rules, situated further down in the "how to report a player" section, and for transparency's sake, it can be added to the actual rule section itself.
The entry fees example is something that the team has been discussing on whether or not to allow (furthermore what restrictions and allowances should be in place to make players' experience seamless - since we only want to prevent situations like the one that occurred), due to the problem that unmoderating it has created, as shadow mentioned - it quickly turned into a Ponzi scheme, which obviously isn't something we want players experiencing while playing.

Happy to hear that there'll be changes, fair enough for the ponzi scheme. Quick note on the token thing and harassment cases:

    - The token I dug up was from years ago and invalid, I double-checked that before posting it. I mentioned a guild specifically because we've had some rivalries in the past and I wanted to poke fun at that. My point here is that this was a super context dependent message and you seem to assume all the worst cases and some more; I was definitely not thinking about teaching my guild how to take over guild discords, most of our players aren't involved in the wider Wynn community to begin with. I just don't think theoretical extrapolation based on private messages should be a valid reason for a warning, especially when the action described (searching up tokens) isn't necessarily Wynn related and people do much more real harm to other guilds by clearing out guild banks w spies or whatever which (far as I am aware) is perfectly legal. Kinda brings me back to my point that this seems like very vibe dependent moderation.

    - Re: harassment cases, I do get wanting to do this for extreme situations, but I think the line is a very fine one. If there's multiple sources that can provide evidence and it's somewhat established that this is related to & could happen on Wynn again, fair enough. But I've seen people get banned without much of a chance to even state their case over 5th hand discord screenshots. Obviously you have to use your judgement at some point, everything can be faked, but in the current system all it takes is one person that mods deem trustworthy acting in bad faith to basically get rid of any other player.

I just wanna jump in and say that the moderation has improved over the last few years. The biggest issue i and others noticed was how moderators are accepted and how rules are enforced. In both cases, most of us just have to kinda scratch our heads and come up with explanations because some cases are just really really stupid.
Whoever that mod was is also an extreme case, i have never seen a mod act like a 12 year old for a case like this, unironically saying "i know better skull" so in my personal opinion i would always quality check how moderators handle cases, and it sounds like this is where it will be going towards in the future which sounds lovely.

But for the love of god, just clear up the rules. half of them are outdated and the other half isnt even enforced ever so please just make sense of it.

Don't try and play the victim here. I've seen the screenshots. I don't believe in publicly calling people out but in your "Exhibit B" you don't provide any of the context for this interaction. You claimed to have hacked other guilds discords and threatened to leak dirt on them to end them, and cancel players. Your claim that this happened in a private discord is completely valid but you absolutely are not the victim here. At the end of the day this is just a minecraft server, stop taking it so seriously and stop being an asshole, and making private issues public.

Sorry, Who are you? It's still out of context and cath stats after this SS "CLEARLY DONT DO THIS" and once again, what is shown is old and out of date and can't touch anything as was already stated

"this is old"? I'm referring to the same thing cath is. If she said "CLEARLY DONT DO THIS" why did she said bye bye [x guild], claim to have access to said discord and provide a screenshot of what is implied are discord chats from said guild?

All I'm saying is don't pretend like this warning wasn't completely justified. Don't provide out of context screen shots just to "prove" your prospective and get members of your guild to back you up.

The... screenshot you provided is out of context... because before and after she very clearly states this is stupid, you will be banned, don't do this, don't be dumb...

Once again, a very obvious joke and if the screenshot was IN CONTEXT you would know that no, she hasn't done this, and once again provided something that actually has 0 functionality

At the end of the day, context matters, and we seem to be stuck on what each of us interprets differently. I’m not here to argue endlessly. My point is simple: joking or not, saying you’ve accessed another guild’s Discord and presenting screenshots, no matter how ‘non-functional’ isn’t a good look, and it does give off the wrong impression.

If there was clear follow-up about ‘not doing this,’ great... but I hope you can also see how the original post still raised concerns. That’s why I think the warning was fair. We can all learn to be mindful of what we say, how we say it, and how it might come across to others.

At this point, I don’t want to keep dragging this out publicly. Let’s just focus on moving forward instead of arguing over old screenshots. If you (or Cath) feel like things are misrepresented, maybe we can clear that up constructively in private rather than hashing it out here.

I have no doubt in my mind that the moderation team will clarify their rules even further and more detailed.

Let's be patient and not lose our heads with arguing.

Not shocked the moderation team acts this way, they’ve never really been good compared to other servers of a comparable size. The biggest shock to me was just the complete lack of professionalism from the mod and his attitude about “knowing the rules better than you” while also being in the wrong.

I very much agree with you, but this kinda proves my point. Even if you cut away everything clearly marking it as a joke it's still a private matter since no action was ever taken. Happy to show you the full conversation in private, let's focus on the more general issues at hand here.

    me when i
get mocked for using a literal slur

that aside, i don't think i entirely understand why moderating private conversations is an overreach? i def sympathize with the lack of clarity on the rules; that makes sense, and it's a problem that the rules aren't clearly outlined. however, if you're having a conversation with someone because of wynncraft, and that results in bullying or harassment, i'd say it's perfectly fair for the moderators of wynncraft to take action based on that. it's like how schools can take disciplinary action against students for things they do even outside of the school; if there is bullying or harassment going on, and the wynncraft moderators can help alleviate that through wynncraft-related punishments, i'd say it's fair to do so

I think moderation in general is always going to be a bit inconsistent, no matter the context-- including real life law enforcers. Obviously that's no excuse to not continue to pour efforts into improving, but it's good to acknowledge that unless everyone is a robot following the same program, there will be mistakes and a whole lot of bumps.
It's good to make posts like this, I feel. I think making an issue where you felt unfairly treated more public forces a moderation team to properly address the situation, and can be good for both parties.

Think what you want about the slur, that's besides the point. If we must discuss the private convo thing one more time:

These cases purely depend on how whatever mod it was sent to interprets a cut off screenshot from a community they have no knowledge of and how malicious they think I would be. I don't think I have to explain how crazy circumstantial this is, even if you thought I was serious this still doesn't affect Wynn; this is about 3rd party guild apps. This also assumes all my guild members are corruptible pawns that'll just do whatever I say. What if I had said "omw to blow up [insert guild player]'s house"? Obvious enough for a joke? What if the screenshots were entirely fake? There's like 20 potential points of failure along the line, and this applies to more than just my case.
I get it, playing moral police seems like the valiant thing to do, but sometimes it really does more harm than good.

where do they draw the line tho? cath jokingly posted a (kinda) well know problem with discord bots in an exclusive discord channel as a "i cant believe this problem still exists, btw dont do it" its not that she broadcasted it and encouraged others to do it.

also it didnt end in bullying or harassment (because it was in an exclusive chat and was portrayed as smth bad) so even by your definition its an overreach.

the fact mods take one look at a screenshot and immediately give you warning points without trying to get more context or even speak with the user is absurd. before passing a verdict the mods should look at the context (are there missing parts of the convo? where was it posted? who has access to that channel? was the image doctored? etc) speak with the user and other people who were there.
thats how the old mod team used to do it.

like whats stopping me from changing my discord nickname and pfp to yours, making up some bullshit and then forwarding that to the mods to get you banned because they dont verify anything? (or taking an out of context screenshot of some random thing you said in a private chat?)
