So I think this is a long time coming, but Ability Shards are very annoying in several different ways.
The first problem is that Wynncraft is all about buildcrafting and having to use 3 shards and reset your entire tree just to change a single thing is frustrating, not to mention having to carry them just to do it.
Now, in my humble opinion Ability Shards are stupid as a concept just like Soul Points were and they should be removed entirely while the ability tree should function just like the skill points, letting you change them freely while in a safe zone, but unfortunately I don't think that will happen.

So, here's my alternative: ability shards no longer take up any inventory slot but instead go straight into the ability tree menu (like how Aspects work). You can now choose to reset your entire tree with 3 shards like you can currently, or you can right click on a node to spend 1 shard to de-activate it (assuming it isn't a parent to another currently activated node) while you are in a safe zone. These shard costs are only committed once you leave the menu, so if you deactivate a node and then reactivate it without leaving the menu, no shards will be lost.

This would be great because you now have a better use for those hundreds of shards you've stockpiled from raids, and it will be easier to change your ability tree as needed for your build without having to reset the entire tree.
    What do you guys think?

Yeah it’s annoying with systems like ability shards and qira hive merchant costs that discourage players from switching builds often

just make putting shards in reenable edit mode. you can then reset the entire tree by just unselecting the first node

I don't get what the deal is with the disincentives for build-switching. They replaced one annoying disincentive with another, slightly less annoying disincentive, which is just strange if your goal is toremove the disincentives. Ability Shards are basically irrelevant anyway.

Why do you want to target specifically early-game players and make them unable to try out different builds? Why are you basically restricting nons to a single Archetype in each class, since it's so difficult to switch items and abilities? Doesn't this restrict the game designers' ability to make unique bosses, since you can't have bosses that need specific builds to defeat?

What's the point of all of this??

(edit: forgot to clarify that i'm commenting on the current system being bad. post is good. i am describing why the build system is bad.)

I am genuinely wondering if you read a completely different post but accidently replied to mine because everything I've said here is a direct improvement to the current ability to switch builds. Hell, I even said that I would prefer Ability Shards to be completely removed and just let people switch nodes freely. So what part of this makes it harder to switch builds? It's literally just the current system but more convenient so I don't see what you're talking about.

I think you misread my post. I probably should have clarified that I'm referring to the current system. It's bad. Your addition would improve it. The 'you' in that post is 'Wynncraft CT'.

FYI 'you' typically refers to the OP, rather than the CT. If referring to the CT via pronoun, my advice is 'them'.

I think the more chances players have to freely experiment and enjoy themselves, the better. I'm indecisive myself, and being able to switch around builds and archetypes without as much hassle would be a godssend, and add some more longevity for players who enjoy bouncing around builds to fit their mood.
