Website & Forums Why Discord?

As y'all saw in the 2.1.1 changelog, future hotfixes and minor update content will be NOT posted on the forums, for whatever reason.

Now this poses an issue. Not for most of the people in Europe or the Americas, yes, but for people who:

1. Have no discord account, maybe due to family reasons, or personal reasons.

2. They have no access to discord due to the fact that discord is banned in their country.

I speak as someone in the second situation, as I am Chinese. I felt like I should bring this up, since I've always used the forums as a primary source of information distributed by the CT and Admin Team, but now since this is happening I have to speak up.

Just… do stuff like before. Take the extra 30 seconds to post a thread.

(EDIT: Since this seems like a little whiny: I've asked around some of my friends at school who also do Wynncraft. Out of the 16 people, only 5 (not including me) had a VPN that could connect them to discord.)

 

Also was a little disappointed that the beta feedback forum channel wasn’t reopened, while the Discord counterpart was. The wynncord is fine for that stuff, but higher quality and more well thought out posts are often on the forums rather than the discord. They each have their own advantages for feedback and suggestions but I don’t think the forums should be forgotten lol.

so here's my take on all of this
every point been made so far on this thread is correct
the other thing is you don't even need fancy annotation and formatting. you don't need spoilers, emojis, any of that stuff that varies between forums and discord. Heck, you don't even need images. You can just highlight text, hit control-c, open the forums, hit control-v.

and of course obviously the points in favor of this on the announcement thread are also accurate (for instance, you can find forum changelogs on the internet through google. unlike discord)

and then, there's the fun fact that the OFFICIAL WEBSITE of the game's news tab will become empty (it shows recent posts in that section)
if you don't announce the changelog somewhere official besides the wynncord (which is hosted by a third party), you can't really link it. There isn't a lot you can do. I didn't know about the ability changes until Chris's profile posts informed me of them. I didn't know about the 'new' anni fableds until i saw a build with one in class builds
i haven't played wynn in a good week, and i don't plan to in the near future
TRANSPARENCY WITH THE WIDER MAJORITY OF YOUR PLAYERBASE IS IMPORTANT (yes i know forums is smaller than discord but people lacking wynncord probably is a bigger group than people who do)

 

yeah the bias against those of us who aren't on wynncord is disgusting. One thing is that I have a discord account, but aren't on wynncord for personal reasons, but one server i AM on has automatic posts mirrored from the wynncord announcements so i see everything. But most people who aren't on wynncord dont have this!

ability tree

for starters, shepherd is optional for summoner and their third node is now a hummingbird's song, which summons hummingbirds on shift-haul that give mobility boosts to the summoner. using shift-haul again sends them into attack mode, losing the boosts but they attack
summoner has a new ability called commander that rallies puppets around you in defensive formation, and increases their accuracy

tree nodes use different coloration systems
white (one AP nodes that upgrade/reduce the cost of stuff) are unchanged
red (two AP core nodes that are essential to an archetype) are unchanged
green (base spells) are unchanged

yellow: (was 1-2 AP nodes with unique function; now 1 AP nodes with the same rules)
purple: (was 2 AP nodes that were major to archetypes/very powerful but not necessary for playstyle; now any 2 AP node that is not red or blue)
BLUE (new; is any 2 AP node that they decide needs to be blue "defined on a case by case basis")

sharpshooter now has ways on the ATree to increase the range and area of phantom ray. decimator provides a range boost

fixed the lightbender heal bug, sunflare now casts heal automatically when triggered

assassin got sticky bomb range increase, lacerate triggers hoodwink, clone symbol changed

world events
bwitty's world event suggestion was implemented
annihilation's world event rewards NO LONGER SCALE

lootruns:
walkspeed curses are 20% (35% initially), they cap at 10
resistance curses are 10% (12% initally, IIRC a cap is already in place)
max mana is now a boon stat
equilibrium is consistent per 2 curses
fixed the safety seeker bug (logging out would remove its downside)

raids

• NoL
• parasite was nerfed (health and damage), no longer aims directly at player on y-axis if the player is only a block above the ground. the overtaken bar visibly decreases, and is visible to all players. overtaken players' projectiles can no longer hit others, but are still visible. the symbols for breaking free are no longer mouse icons, they are l and r
• orphion was buffed (health), black hole's damage was nerfed, solar shower (the thing before black hole) spawns more projectiles but they are more consistent
• lingering light (the thing from orphion's charges) stay for a shorter duration, infection guys have a more 'sensible health distribution', pearl overwatchers now function like they were supposed to
• nol has buffed rewards for taking longer
• TCC
• the flame message in the seal room is shorter and quicker
• TNA
• rare blinding eye miniboss has buffed stats in g-raids
