This was just an unnecessary nerf to both Arcanist and Riftwalker, and an indirect buff to Lightbender.

I hear all about how "bad" Riftwalker and Arcanist are because they have no sustain. YEAH, OF COURSE NOT, because the ONE ability that allowed Riftwalker (Arcanist too to an extent, but not really bc Chaos Explosion) to have good sustain, was nerfed down to a mediocre ability that does barely anything.

If the problem is that people are using Macros w/ Riftwalker and Arcanist, then make it so that the Archetypes are good enough to stand on their own two feet WITHOUT A MACRO.

We could also just ban spell macros. Tbh I don't see how macros aren't basically cheating. They aren't a quality of life like a minimap or placing a color behind items is. They literally get rid of one of the most fundamental aspects of the gameplay which is the click combos and replace it with a single input that does the same thing with immaculate precision and much more speed than human fingers could ever reach. It's like using an auto-aim in an FPS pretty much.

Macros get rid of the skill that it takes to successfully cast spells with precision and speed. I really don't know how this doesn't count as an unfair advantage.

I would've brung this up if I had thought to put it in earlier. Macros DO get rid of a fundamental aspect of Wynncraft, and isn't QOL.
It's literally just an advantage over other players, it SHOULD be a bannable offense.

Agreed. Macros just feel like cheating the intended system, and it sucks that so many other things are being nerfed just because this "QoL" exists. Though normal spellcasting isn't too bad for me, I play acro with it and feel like I have more control over my spells.

I would guess that since single spell macros are a qol that are needed for people that don't have 10 cps, but having spell macros for the 2 mage archetypes break the balance, so since they can't remove spell macros they have to weaken the archetype that abuses spell macros. I only play lightbender, so i have no idea what these nerfs were and how did they affect the power of these archetypes, but in due time the cts will find a way to buff these archetypes to viability without making spell macros abuse-able again

    Just a guess

The change was so bad, most builds with Riftwalker don’t have sustain. At the very best, it’ll look like you have mana for a little bit, before it drops below 100, and now you have to wait for what feels like an eternity to get your only damage source back.

It only makes Lightbender more appealing, because it doesn’t have anything that breaks its momentum of combat. With Riftwalker, you spam spells for what feels like 10 seconds, and then have to wait another 10 seconds sitting there, and feeling like an idiot doing nothing, waiting for your mana to come back.

While I did make a thread where I basically complained about sweats and how they might judge you for your skills in various aspects of the game, I do have to side with them here and say that if you suck at clicking, that's your own skill issue, not anyone else's.

I'm all for letting people play however they want as long as they respect everyone else, be it tryhards or casuals, but if you don't have the capacity to cast spells fast enough and make use of archetypes that require that specific skill that's your own problem, not the archetype's or the build's.

I really do not want to look down on anyone for wanting to use macros but they aren't a part of default Wynncraft and thus macros being usable shouldn't be prioritized over the game's balance. If you suck at the game then get good at it instead of relying on a third party tool that acts essentially as a cheat, sorry.

seriously though, playing arcanist spamming meteor for over an hour during a lootrun makes my hand cramp. I honestly don't think it's healthy for me to play that much of a spell and click combo intensive class for long amounts of time.

I think that the reason why macros are so abundant is because there just isn't a whole lot of non-spellspam options. At least not in certain subclasses. That, and they make playing those spellspam subclasses significantly easier.

Macros are an accessibility tool first and foremost. It's not ethical to ban macros just because people exploit them (how would you even track macro users? the consistency between clicks?).

I'd say the problem is the fact that, with the design of certain archetypes, using macros is ideal. The optimal gameplay for archetypes like riftwalker, arcanist, trickster, etc. is to spam spells as quickly as possible; compared to archetypes like trapper, sharp, shade, lightbender, or the whole of shaman, where spells aren't designed to be used in rapid succession. Removing macros is just a band-aid solution to this design problem; a physical limitation to how much you can perform a gameplay loop, instead of recreating the gameplay loop to be more well-paced and wrist-friendly to begin with.

As an Acro main and someone who tried Wynntils macro and abandoned it:

Acrobat spells are 100% meant to be spammed; it's your damage source, mobility, and evasion. But macros are frustrating and problematic. Macros are a shortcut that limits you significantly - switching spells midcast, training your click rate, and massively increased casting rate (hitting a macro key too soon can interfere with what spells you cast).

Overall, I see little value in macros. I don't understand why people use them when they interfere with your casting so much and are so unwieldy. Macros aren't the problem. And an optional ability shouldn't be "necessary" for an entire archetype to function. If the ability was much stronger than other options, it should be nerfed, but the other options also need to be pulled up, and it doesn't seem that has happened much.

I think it's too weak now; right now I'm using it only because it gives me infinite flight, as in combat it just doesn't offer the utility another node would offer. I don't think a full revert should happen as it was pretty brokenly overpowered before, but right now it just doesn't feel like it's worth using for a more practical build. Also it requires going all the way down on riftwalker, which really hurts its usefulness imo. I'm basically investing like 5 ability points to use it, and if I didn't care more about QoL stuff than actually being useful, I don't think I would.

As another acro main since the spells take time to finish casting, you shouldn’t spam them like crazy, and they way acros gameplay is it is much more natural than using macros, and macros don’t help with dps

For something like meteor-snake loop, I could see it being a lot easier, but still not really better
There are some rhythms that need lots of practice to make reasonably consistent, but as far as I can tell macros will consistently be worse than skilled play

What if they made it kick you if you are spamming macros faster than humanly possible. I think that is what hypixel does with autoclickers

You can just limit the cps cap down to what is humanely possible, which wynncraft already does.

If I'm not mistaken, adding a cps cap is just putting a cooldown on click inputs, which can only be in terms of minecraft ticks (mutiples of 0.05s). So they can do like 20cps (no cd), 10cps (1 tick cd), or 6.66cps (2 ticks cd). 6.66cps is defo too low and will limit a good amount of non-macro users, so the best cap is 10cps (which is not really humanely possible but it's the best possible option). It sucks that it allows macros to be much faster than even the sweats out there, but wynn is limited by minecraft systems so yeah.

the intended system sucks ngl ... even hypixel has a better system with skills being tied to items so its just 2 buttons instead of 3 and is spammable once you do switch to that item
    ________________________________
10 cps kinda sucks rn because it doesnt line up with the 3 button inputs of how skills actually work ... needs to be divisible by 3 so 12 is a minimum that should be acceptable
