Profession World Events should include fun action-packed activities that generously reward you within short span of time.
They could range from simple fetch quests to challenging mini-games / puzzles.
The events could occur at the same frequency as World Events, with the rewards including Material Satchels and Profession XP.
Material Satchels are similar to those that drop in raid, but with far more diverse assortment of ingredients.
That, or perhaps the events should also leave behind a simple chest full of ingredients and other profession-related consumables. Perhaps you can even get unique stuff that are exclusive to those events.

I'll bring up a few raw examples below:

    1.) Gathering Spree.
A simple, straightforward event, which summons a LOT of gathering nodes you have to harvest within short time.
Each node could grant 1-3 of the ingredient per harvest. This event should NOT grant extra rewards at the end.
For example: A meteor landed in an area which you can mine out for gems/ingots. Or a fish breeding season has occurred, which caused tons of fish to migrate to the area you can farm up.

    2.) Reflex mini-game.
Treat this as a "whack-a-mole". Multiple nodes will spawn near you and you have to pick a correct one out of them within a few seconds.
Gathering is instant for this mini-game, regardless of the tool you use.
With each correct answer, the game speeds up gradually, and more nodes spawn as well. The more difficult it becomes, the more materials at once you will also gather from correct nodes.
(For example, a streak of 10+ can occasionally grant you 2 materials rather than 1)

For farming it could be harvesting fresh grains + avoiding rotten ones, for fishing it could be picking correct species that are not sickly/poisonous, etc.

This event will grant you profession XP and reward chest - its loot quality will scale up depending on how well you performed.

    3.) Fetch quest.
A Traveling Merchant will spawn, who will request you to gather very specific materials from distant areas.
This event is more reliant on your mobility to travel as fast as you can, so that you return to the Merchant with as many goods as possible.
The more 'special' materials you bring to him, the greater the reward will be at the end.
In addition to Profession XP and Event Chest, they will reward you with the materials correlated to the event's profession.

Basically, non-combat stuff that can stimulate your brain in fun ways, which compliments chill gameplay.

Oh yeah, good point! It should probably work like Lootrun in terms of restrictions.
    Also thank you

Mixes well with my proposal for improved mini-quests. (I technically didn't finish it but summarising 400 quests is a tall and somewhat repetitive order, especially when I have to constantly look through ingredients to figure out reasonable proposals.)

To summarise that one, mini-quests would involve either gathering and supplying raw resources (for Gathering), bulk-crafting basic items (for Crafting), and creating items with specific IDs (also for Crafting), with variations on these that generally boil down to "this, but multiple Profs". Quest signs would be replaced with actual quest-givers with dialogue (and maybe lore???) to give the feeling that you are actually interacting with the world and doing jobs for people (it's called Professions, after all). So, basically, Prof mini-quests would be like actual combat quests, except the mini-quest is basically three stage (talk to guy, get item, talk to guy again) and doesn't have combat elements, rewarding XP for every Prof directly or indirectly involved. (You could also mix this with Prof XP coming up in certain quests where Profs are relevant, such as being rewards for doing certain tasks in All Roads to Peace.)
