Game Mechanics Add the ability to do auctions on the trade market.

Currently the trade market is just the regular old listing system but i feel like auctions would be a good thing to add for more trade market diversity. It could probably function a lot like hypixel skyblock's trade market where you still have to traditional buy and sell system we already have but also can do auctions. This i feel like would be a really great addition for wynncrafts economy :)

 

Now, now, the idea has merit! OP didnt know that alluding to Hypixel Skyblock will make people LESS amicable, given that from their perspective, Hypixel is just another *succesful* MCRPG

Also TM is meant to replace forums selling threads, some of which were auctions, so why not?

What’s wrong with mentioning hypixel skyblock? It’s a popular server almost everyone would know and has a very standard auction system (and as someone said above me, this exact method is already used in wynn manually through forums)
It’s a simple way to explain the idea and gets the point across, no reason to shoot it down just because they mention the word hypixel.

Wynn players such as myself tend to dislike it, since objectively speaking, it's not very good. The game amounts to massive quantities of grinding, to be blunt. It gets a bad reaction from a lot of people.

Part of that might be HSB players coming to Wynncraft and expecting it to play similarly, or suggesting HSB elements be added to it. I'm not sure about that, but there's definitely a lot of suggestions which ultimately reference HSB, and then some people have the knee-jerk reaction of 'HSB bad'.

For this suggestion specifically, I'm not quite sure about auctions. Auctions work better in HSB, I feel, because of how the item system there works - in Wynncraft, they'd only really be important for, like, Mythics. And I don't think there should be a Mythic Auctioneer ever added because it feels... don't know how to describe it. Corrupted? Pandery? It takes the intentional value of Mythics and just defiles it.

Essentially, I don't think there should be auctions, although they'd be helpful for certain items. Most items wouldn't benefit from an auction system. Any auctions can remain as an unofficial thing.

 

Yeah I do think auctions wouldn’t really work as well on Wynncraft, mainly because of how much less people there are consistently using the auction house, to the point where it’s kinda hard to sell items normally sometimes. It could work well in some situations, but in general I feel most items would just end up being sold for less than market value or take a long time to get up there.

also thinking hsb is a bad game is perfectly fine. I’ve played it myself and I think Wynncraft is way better. However, not liking a game does not mean you should start shooting down ideas just because someone mentions the name. If they were saying to add all of hsb dungeons or smth maybe that reaction would make sense, but this is a small feature which is not exclusive to skyblock. They used hsb as more of an example of a stereotypical auction house and, if you removed the name, the suggestion would still make sense on its own. I just think it’s kinda stupid that there’s such a negative reaction out of a perfectly normal suggestion just because they alluded a game that’s not generally liked on the forums.

 

i feel like the reason hsb gets so much hate from wynncraft and other mmorpgs is just because of its overall grindiness and just how diffrent it is from what wynncraft players are used too. Wynncraft is more focused on the quests, dungeons, raids, and mre rpg like stuff while hsb is basicly just grind

 

I say no to this, because items could get incredibly pricey pretty fast, instead of the fairer prices you can get on the TM (usually)

 

Auctions don’t even work well in hsb, I remember 90% of the time when I played ages ago you had to have like 3x the market value of an item to have a chance at getting one because people would buy them to resell

Also yeah calling it an RPG is like. Technically true? It is a role playing game I guess, but there isn’t really a main story that the player progresses through or anything(unless it’s changed a lot since I played).
Calling HSB an RPG is like calling bedwars a MOBA, technically by the naming conventions it’s true but not at all in essence
