As I have been checking out lootruns with my Shadestepper Assassin, I've noticed that Shade's damage really relies on landing Backstabs properly.

Some enemies are challenging to determine where the backs of their hitboxes are. Sky Shroom along with several Destroy objectives (Colossus Rune, Spire of Eyes, Gateway to Nothing, etc.) are the main offenders, since they don't have an obvious 'back'.

My suggestion would be to make the particles from Marked appear on the Marked target's back instead of under their feet. Simple, yes, but it would give players a definite target to aim for, rather than just hoping that they're aiming for the back.

Thank you for your time, kind soul!

I've not played Shadestepper, but this seems like a great change.

Would be weird on some mobs. Especially with the new models. You can only really tell where the "back" is by using where the head is looking, which is definitely not reliable.

Oh right, I forgot about the new models. How will Backstab work with them? Surely they will still have a hitbox-defined 'back' for Backstab to proc with?

Some mobs don’t have heads. Do those get affected by backstab?

probably based on where they're looking. Even if they don't have a head, they have a north

So that means that you can still designate a back, no?

Yeah I think the point is that some mobs that don’t have fronts are hard to hit a backstab
