I can present 4/6 words containing "ie" in this thread. I can also present the plural forms of words that end with an \IY\-sounding "y." There are a lot more words in English with "ie" as /IY/ than as /AY/.
Ragni is an anagram of Grian, but the a's are pronounced differently.

Yea, players are never going to stop subconsciously calling these cities what they think they're called.
What? Are you telling me that the larger wynn playerbase thinks of them as W-AY.B-EH-L instead of W-IH.B-EH-L

If you pronounce Wybel like "why bell" then you would also have to pronounce Wynn as "whine". It is wibble

well idk what to tell you, people most definitely pronounced it like "why bell" when they first encountered the word. I've been saying it like "wibble" ever since I knew it's pronounced that way but still, it's reasonably a very common mistake

Sorry to say this but pretty much every single Wynncraft player pronounced it as "Why-Ble" before Order of the Grook was released
Like, pronunciation isn't consistent across different words just because they have the same letters

Did you know that back in 2013 a lot of people did in fact pronounce "Wynn" like "wine" (they were wrong)

While you could ask CTs to provide proper pronounciation guides if need be, a somewhat permanent and consistent reference would be better. However, the game itself isn't the place for it - as with other fantasy games with sometimes confusing pronounciations if you do not speak the language (e.g. Runescape having Welsh as a stand-in for elven names, such as Prifddinas), Wiki is your best friend - nothing stops you barring the Wiki Rules as well as the Game & Forum Rules (wherever they apply) from adding your own pronounciation guides, perhaps with help from CTs to ensure it's the correct pronounciation.

Otherwise, just pronounce it however you like. Nobody's going to judge you, unless your pronounciation and accenting is GLaDOS levels of wrong.

I like the attempt, but a lot of these sound just weird to me - Ragni, Almuj, Troms - to name a few. A better attempt would be to find a consistent patter, e.g. "wy" is /wi/ but "wy_e" is /waj_/ (no specific reason for the example at all) or "o" at the end od the word is /ou/ but in the middle is just /o/.

Fine, changing Wynn's pronunciation. I am not gonna let anyone touch the demons' name.

Also if we go specifically by English orthography I doubt there is an unbroken rule for this.

ok but why does this matter? There isn't any standardization of pronunciations of English-language landmarks or names or anything like that in real life (or if there is, I haven't heard of it, which suggests it isn't very widely recognized), why would we want one for Wynncraft? Also some of these seem just plain wrong. I don't see why this is necessary, and I don't understand why any particular person should get to decide how other people should pronounce these things. I always thought Ragni was pronounced like "Rog - nee" and "rag - nye" feels pretty unnatural to say, for example.

In general, I'm pretty opposed to attempts to standardized pronunciations to any more than an absolutely necessary extent, since I find the diversity of accents and ways of speaking that people have to be a pretty nice thing, and I can't help but feel the same way here.

I am pretty sure if you asked someone or looked somewhere they would tell you that yes, this is in fact how you pronounce it. Sure, there maybe be many accents, but there is at least the "local" pronunciation is is the correct one.

Yes but I cannot read that or understand or make sense of it, and I think I'm a fair bit nerdier than the average person, and that's kind of the point. I really don't see what the value is in this as long as things are standard enough for people to be able to make sense of one another, and I definitely don't see why we need it for wynncraft. I'm not mad at or strongly opposed to this suggestion I just don't understand why it exists.
