After being away from the server for several months to deal with irl issues. I tried to do a few things on the server. Though, it became extremely confusing when I tried to get to an area, to which I had previously already completed, being locked out and have to redo it. Come to find out I have found that a few quests/dungeons/etc have been updated or changed. Thus, locking me out because they were incomplete. Honestly, there is no way to know they've been updated in any way. Which I'm sure you could probably find information on the forum, discord, etc. However, I rarely check them or even go there. Having something in-game would make it a lot easier.

    So, my suggestion:

Have an In-Game Update Message NPC located in towns that will only give a message once, but if you need to, you can right click them to learn about the update again if wanted. Perhaps a message, for example: like the 'Player Finder', where they'll state in chat that you can join a game in queue. But instead, it'll be by an Update NPC saying, "Hey, welcome back! We've updated [insert quest/dungeon/ets here]! Check out your quest book to start tracking the [insert quest/dungeon/ets here]!" Then have the player click in chat to say "Okay!" or "Learn More Information" to explain more about the update. This also verifies the player got the message and things can be...less confusing :).

This would be great for returning players! A lot of games have an in-game "announcement board" where players can check out the newest updates to the game.

Having a similar one in-game would help lead players towards informational websites that can help them gather their bearings, especially if they're not aware of the forums or don't know how to navigate it. This would be especially helpful for returning players since a lot has changed over the past year.

probably more realistic (and effective) is a notification in chat when you join for the first time after an update with links to all the changelogs you've missed
