right now we all know 64 emeralds is 1 emerald block, and 64 emerald blocks is 1 liquid emerald and so on.
this is hard to calculate cause 64 isnt a nice number to do quick math with.

if the currency were changed into a base 50 system where 50 emeralds = 1 emerald block, and 50 emerald blocks is 1 liquid emerald. things would be much easier to calculate.

the biggest pro here is p2p trades.
lets say you are buying a item for 541 emeralds i can tell you very quickly without a calculator that in a base 50 system this is 10 emerald blocks and 41 emeralds.
in the current system i would need to look up a calculator to find this.

the 1 con i can see with this (assuming stack size isnt changed) is the compression wallets would be a little smaller and this can be compensated with an extra slot or 2. but id rather have base 50 then an extra slot.

Nah, I played enough Hypixel Skyblock to relatively eaily do multiplication with 64. Leave it as is.

Given that the whole economy already has a base of 64, is it even possible to switch to 50? Would banks overflow with emeralds from a lack of storage during transition? I feel like it's just more trouble then it's worth.

The base game is Minecraft, you should get used to doing things in multiples of 8, 16, 32 and 64. It's just how it is man.

Realistically, other than putting up market listings, when does anyone ever care the number of emeralds something is? If it's more than 1 eb I think in terms of eb, if it's more than 1 le, I think in terms of le and so on. I think most people can mentally determine approximately what fraction of an eb/le something is, so I don't see this being particularly better for someone trying to decide whether or not to buy something based on the price. I also don't particularly relish the thought of having to spend 60% more space to store the same amount of le.

Minecraft's own design prohibits stack sizes that aren't powers of 2, so not happening any time soon without NBT black magic or mods that fundamentally change how Minecraft's stack sizes work.

    Also, calculator app exists.

I get where op is coming from. There should be more convenient ways to work with prices.

Emerald values should be formatted by stacks/le/blocks/emeralds to make them easier to understand. This would make it easier to know how much something costs, especially for players unfamiliar with working with base 64, without having to do all the math.

For example, when setting item prices in the market, we could have a new menu where we can set the amount of stacks, le's, blocks, and emeralds the item would cost.

Idr more instances of the game using emerald values in base 10 but yes, some QoL changes for setting/displaying prices would be nice!

Wynntils already does this. It even calculates prices ya put in. For example 1stx 32le -t would be 393 216 emeralds with tax.

This isn't about "JUST USE WYNNTILS LUL", this is more about making the currency simplification a Vanilla Wynncraft feature, not something a QoL mod adds to the game. Not everyone may want to use mods for a variety of reasons (distrust towards the modding scene, performance concerns (although most people will run OptiFine or any other optimization mod regardless), being a genuine novice in modifying Minecraft installations and fearing it might break their installation, Fractureiser while it was running rampant, etc. etc.).

Counterpoint 1: lowering stack size would cause problems to more people because almost everyone with that much le uses wyntills and working with lower stack size means more inventory clutter
Counterpoint 2: market issues should be addressed using a chat parser similar to wyntills, so you can use emerald types when specifying price

I'm talking about simplification in the context of "showing how many emeralds you are holding at any point, as a whole or broken down to easily digestible numbers" and "allow users to make more easy to understand calculations", not "reduce stack size", which is why I said a Vanilla implementation of that would be better.
