    Pirate Lattice is a POI required to unlock lootruns in the province/island/thingy/Uth Rune generator of Corkus. It's a medium sized underground area with plenty of mobs, few lootchests, and a boss at the end.

    True to its name, the Pirate Lattice's main player torture device is the lattice itself, that makes up most of the floor in the dungeon.

    It's not particularly difficult to parkour between the various gaps, despite the shifts from 2x2 holes to 1x1 holes to removing the spaces between altogether, which is annoying. But the enemies in the lattice, firstly, they can annoy you from anywhere due to never being able to fall through the holes. They don't have too much knockback, but can easily knock you into a hole.     In a parkour challenge.

    Basic parkour isn't too hard, and neither is fighting while doing so, but it gets so much worse when you can get piledrived into a hole through the wall.

    Falling through any hole immediately sends you to the start of the dungeon.

    Amazing.

    I realize that sadism can be rather cathartic, but it does not make an enjoyable experience during gameplay.


    Proposed Changes:
    To be honest, the concept itself isn't horrible, but the punishment is too severe when it can so easily be triggered. It can also be easily fixed.

    Just add a floor.

    Perhaps make a lower portion infested with opponents, like a token challenge that many other POIs use. Divide this lower portion into segments, for example, the player can fall into four different sectors. Then, when it is cleared, you can rise back to the top at the end of that sector at a checkpoint. Therefore, you can reward skillful gameplay (or acrobat players) with a much faster clear time, and it allows annoyed players to take a simpler approach through the cave. It even fits better thematically, since why in the name of Orphion would pirates have a bottomless pit anyone can fall into in the middle of their hideout.

    Finally, move the chests to those checkpoint-esque areas.

    Tl;dr slap a floor and token challenge down there that puts you closer to the end instead of voiding you out.

    EDIT: I have now had the pleasure of my lootrun timing out at pirate lattice due to missing a chest, and am confident that all the beta testers have to have been playing acrobat. After all, no other individuals would consider this fun.

    The game has given me Pirate Lattice as the most beneficial cave multiple times after writing this post, possibly out of spite, and I am wondering if it is possible to change the block of code that makes it part of lootruns into a benign, unusable comment.

    EDIT: I have had many individuals bring to my attention that pirate lattice had existed before lootruns. Thank you for telling me, and also compounding my absolute rage that it has not been changed at any point. The post will be corrected.

    I liked Pirate Lattice until it was a part of Corkus lootruns.

    I now hate it with a passion. There should just be areas that dont have any lattice structures in them whatsoever that have the enemies.

    Removing the Cyborg Picaroons is also indeed another option, but eh.

    Additionally i love accidentally dashing against one of the Walls meant to protect you from projectiles and Falling down because there is no floor underneath and you cannot get up with dash since you didnt Touch the ground/Use pirouette

    I've never done the lootrun so I have no real comments on any of this
    but I will nerd for one second
    it was in the game before 2.0.3

    at which point I tried it, and found it to be unironically the hardest piece of content in the whole game.
    I find that to be more funny than frustrating, but I can see it being an irritation if you are trying to lootrun and have to do it many times.

    cool suggestion but you called Corkus a province and pirate lattice has also been in the game since 2.0

    Yeah, I hate this cave SO much. I don't know why they made the knockback on those mobs 400% stronger than all other knockback in the game, but they did. And then you only have
    3-15 minutes to loot all the chests. And then they turned the one chest that wasn't horrible into another cave. It is a pain on mage. The only reason I am ever able to complete is the teleport spell. Checkpoints and a floor be a savior to anyone lootrunning in Corkus.
    Is Corkus not a province?

    It's like Kosovo or Taiwan: de facto it is a province, de jure it isn't, as they are self-governing and act like a province, but Gavel, Wynn, nor Fruma (afaik) say they are a province).

    You don't need approval to be a province, you just need to be stronger than all other provinces in case they declare war.

    make it so that falling into the lattices instead launches you back up and damages you a bit
