Game Mechanics (2.0.3) Suggestion to revert ritualist mask debuff change

    For those who didn't know, in 2.0.3 have switched ritualist's mask debuff around, such that:
    mask of the lunatics -> +damage/-defense
    mask of the fanatic -> +defense/-move speed
    mask of the coward -> +move speed/- damage

    I can understand why some people may think the new changes are good, but I believe many more people prefer the old ritualist debuffs since it is far more flexable.

    Just a declaimer that this is an attempt to argue from the perspective of a ritualist player though I am not a full on ritualist player but a ayocote-ritualist hybrid player, so there may be misunderstanding and such. Please leave them in the comment if there are any.

    To begin, I would like to address the identity of each masks before the update:

    Lunatics: Though poor mobility thus poor damage setup, have great damage and have devastating clean up when used correctly.

    Fanatic: A temporary shielding against incoming burst damages, allow to tank lethal damage and time to move out of sticky situation before switching to other masks.

    Coward: Using agility as defense, this mask can dodging attacks and kite swift enemies all while dealing adequate damage at the same time. Very squishy, but would not be threated by scattered enemies (ones that lunatic performs poorly). Also can move around to setup for lunatic

    The identity of each mask after the update:

    Lunatics: switch to this mask when you find an open window that make you safe for a few sec and try to throw as much aura as possible, preferably against a crowd of squishy enemy so you can one-shot them

    Fanatics: switch to this mask after the few sec of safety have passed and try to clean up the lower health enemy (can't easily get out since the loss of move speed) if need to get out, throw out a totem so you can haul to it when switch to coward

    Coward: move out of the crowd and try to reposition for another window of safety for Lunatic to shine.

    From the description of identity, the new ritualist is not bad. In fact, the comparison between the two could spark some controversy. Personally I would prefer the old debuffs since the new one is very based on the rotation of a single combo and not use masks based on the current enemy position and spell cast as well as the fact you need all three masks to function well which nerfs hybrids and early games.

    If the change is the final choice I would like a higher speed buff on coward even if it is for a limited duration for that repositioning ability it is used for.

    Also please give us the ability to rotate the mask backwards maybe with shift-R-R-L and have take off mask by switch weapons, or let us choose the mask with key 1, 2, 3 after we used R-R-L. Not able to switch mask to any mask is the only reason I am not playing this archetype.

    The mask being taken off with weapon switching would be kinda bad since you would have a Similar situation to guardian angels/clones and not being able to just coward and run while drinking pots if you need to survive your totem gets removed already when swapping so there doesn’t have to be another thing to setup. Having to select a certain mask upon casting uproot would be kinda bad because
    1. it costs time so you don’t win anything from it
    2. when you accidentally cast uproot you cannot fight anymore until you notice (depending on how the selection works, this would be kinda annoying if your hotbar got cleared to select from the slot you could not use spells/if it opened a menu you would completely stop for like 2 seconds)
    3. you might get destroyed by a boss while selecting

    i think these parts of the mask system are fine as they are right now, with the debuff changes it is just personal preference ig
    I actually think it is nice to be fast while wearing lunatic but I also don’t like that fanatic makes you slow because with the new upgrade which makes the totem deal a ton of damage upon touching the ground it would be cool to be able to dodge
