Make materials and ingredients farmable on housing island.

Remember that my goal here is to add more activity to housing, there's surely a way to balance this

  1. Interesting idea but has to be nerfed a lot

  2. Only make ingredients farmable

  3. Only make materials farmable

  4. Add mobs but only for decoration (Yeah i just thought about it)

  5. Great idea, nothing to be changed

  6. Nothing useful or feature is too cheated

    It would be a great addition to the game to be able to farm materials and ingredients in some ways on our housing islands.

    For ingredients first :

    -Garden plots could be added as "NPCs" type blocks with a limit of two or three by island and you could only plant flower and plants-like ingredients in them with different grow time for each one like one or two days for max tier ingredients and a few hours for low-tier ones.
    -For ingredients looted by mobs a way of "capturing" mobs or at least their ID to be able to reproduce them on an island, in a pasture for passive mobs and with a spawner in a cage or something for hostile ones.
    (Of course maybe loot chances could be lowered for it to be not too cheaty, and make it so that not every mob can be captured, too)

    Now for materials :

    -That can be for every type of materials (Wood, minerals, plants and fishes), every tens or hundreds of materials gathered there would be a chance to loot a "Farming spot" that would go directly to your personnal block bank for it to be placed on yout island.

    Of course i know some (Or even the majority) of people will find this too cheated to be added in game, but i'm sure there is a way to adjust it so it can be profitable without breaking the economy and make it enjoyable to everyone. (And also it would add a reason to farm ressources for hours and gaining something doing it other than XP).

    Thanks for reading and hope i'm not the only one to find this idea enjoyable.

    Every HICH player would like this since you cannot get killed in housing (as far as I know), since you could just level your gathering skills there and have no risk

    That's why it's just an idea, it should be adjusted so that people would still have to farm a lot of time before being able to set up something profitable on their island.

    I'm obviously open to suggestions, and i thought it could be ok to also make that people will have to pay a certain amount of emeralds to have access to other player's farming island that depends on the amount of gathering spots on it (One time access or permanent access), and add the possibility for players to augment the price if they want to get some emeralds for them.

    this would take away from every gathering spot on wynn, and it would be easy to afk farm

    Then let it be that only the owner of the island can farm there so that it would take him/her time to farm enough to be able to setup something profitable on their island and after all this time they would deserve to have this, and, in fact, letting people pay to have access to this wouldn't be too cheated too, it just have to be balanced by advised people.

    Seems a bit slow for something you can easily get several of in a matter of minutes. There aren't a lot of full flower/ plant ingredients, commonly-used ones, anyway.

    Same thing as above, except this time how fast can/ do they reproduce? Is it the same spawning rate as mobs in the wild? And if it is slower, then what's the point of farming them in housing rather than at the actual location?

    Not sure if I understand this one. There is a small chance to get a Node Item you can place on your island whenever you gather that item's type?

    I must have missed something, what is the "reason" stated here? What benefit do you get farming on your housing island compared to large cyclable regions in the wild?

    By "reason" i meant that getting as you said "farming nodes" by farming a lot in the world was a new reason to farm a lot on the map other than just grinding levels with nothing to gain but materials that you sell for nothing or just throw away.

    You're right for the growth time i didn't think of it very much before proposing my idea, but as of everything else it can be balanced, my idea isn't perfect at all and anyone can add their ideas and help balance this.

    And at last, i know it doesn't seems that useful but my goal is mostly to bring more life to housing islands and give them more purpose so that people would spend more time on them either building or doing other activities, and gaining something from the time spent on it.

    But you make some very solid points about the downsides of my idea and i thank you for that :)

    The point of profs is to be grinding with the possible danger of mobs/players. This won’t be added. Prof locations will always be located on the map.

    Let's be honest once you're at a sufficiently high level most of ressources can be gathered with the mobs being only an annoyance and event sometime without mobs at all because there's a lot of peaceful/semi-peaceful places to farm, people would still have to grind a lot before being able to setup a farming area on their island and i still don't think it would be too cheated if it's well balanced, it would just change the game a little bit and, i know that people don't like change but it wouldn't make the game easier, just less tedious and annoying, if you like being annoyed by mobs that can't kill you anyway that's your problem

    Are you a dev or something, part of the wynncraft staff ? We're just discussing a suggestion here no need to be mean if you're not ok with this proposition then just go your way and let other people discuss about it.

    Housing isn't meant to be a part of the main gameplay. It's just a feature that allows players to take a break from the normal gameplay, and express their creativity. Also, endgame players aren't the only ones who do professions. Craftsman exists.
    Also have you ever worn gathering gear? It's far from optimized for combat, and in some areas mobs are a real threat. If this suggestion gets added, people can literally set up semi-afk farms in their housing.

    Nothing is written in stone and there are many players that like the housing system, let's not forget this is still minecraft and adding ways to let people build things isn't that bad.
    Prohibiting craftsman players to access farming island is a solution, or maybe only allowing them to farm on their own island (And i my idea is still that it would take time to setup something good on an island)
    And for gathering gear it's only a threat for last tiers materials, but maybe you can make it so that you have to be 10 levels higher than the required level (on map) to be able to farm a resource on an island and boom, problem solved. I can see a lot of people find this "cheated" but i also see people saying it would be useless and still easier to do it on "survival" so i really think there's room for discussion.

    Oh and also, how do we do a poll ?

    It has come to me that one way of letting people access the "reproduction machine" to bring mobs to island would be through a quest given by Ava (In the feathers fly quest), and if it's too difficult or complicated to make people gain farming spots directly by farming on the map, maybe they could be sold by the blocks merchant on the island for a certain amount of max tier materials.
