Game Design Remove teleport casting from chaos explosion

    I’ve been playing Arcanist for a while now, and I find it extremely counterintuitive to have chaos explosion recast teleport.

    Since chaos explosion is aimed at an enemy before use, if even one teleport was casted the player will charge straight toward the enemy if chaos explosion is used, potentially being very fatal given Arcanist’s ranged and glassy nature.

    Chaos explosion is very integral to Arcanist’s kit, so the hinderance of its usage should be a big problem.

    Additionally, one can even say that this issue hinders the use of teleport, a core spell of mage in general, just for the purpose of getting to use chaos explosion. This again, causes Arcanist to be quite immobile and vulnerable to attacks.

    One can say to just build for walkspeed, but:

    A. You need to build for a ton of sustain because of the loss of heal

    B. You need to build for at least some damage as well, it is foolish to expect Arcanist’s abilities alone to compensate for this

    You can only have so much in a build, so you have to sacrifice one of these for the other two.

    But really, mobility shouldn’t have to be a problem. Teleport exists to be used for that reason, but you lose your main gun if you use it. That’s a bit too much of a bummer for a damage archetype, don’tcha think?

    In conclusion, I feel that this conflict of teleport and chaos explosion, mobility vs main damage dealer shouldn’t exist, hence why I feel that the removal of teleport from chaos explosion is justified.

    Oh, definitely. Anyone remember when the movement spell was removed from Sorcery? This is, essentially, the same concept; Teleport goes counter to the idea of Chaos Explosion (because Chaos Explosion's whole "thing" is being aimed at an enemy for damage whereas Teleport is the movement of one's self) -- as a movement spell, it should be excluded.
