Basically major ID’s but in reverse.
For example, -Sorcery would have a 30% chance to not cast spells.
This could be used to balance items that would be otherwise overpowered.

It would probably be a way to make builds more interesting rather than to balance items, as items with major IDs are usually built around them, but it would be a cool thing to have in game.

Yeah, I've wanted something like this since major IDs were added. It would make building with certain items a lot more interesting.

    Viable IDs:
Entropy (makes Meteor fall 3x slower, could be used for maybe a dogun-based staff)
Fission (makes explosions half as large)
Freerunner (halves your speed when your sprint bar is under 30%)
Guardian (50% of damage you take is redirected to nearby allies, could be used for a glass cannon item that relies on tanks)
    Peaceful Effigy (half totem duration)
Roving Assassin (hpr and mr are reversed when vanished)
Sorcery (30% chance to fail casting)
Transcendence (50% chance to double mana cost)

Furious Effigy already exists (I know it does more than just half the totem timer) but a think a duplicate would just be...idk

Anyway, while I think the troll IDs are funny-ish, it would be nice if there was also a beneficial effect? So it's not just a piece of crap that nobody will use? Having a 30% chance failure to cast a spell is just...who tf is gonna use that lol. If there was a benefit such as, idk, if you fail to cast a spell, your next spell will deal 20% more damage (which can stack), it would be like the TNA buffs where there's a benefit at the cost of having something potentially detrimental. Because let's be honest, absolutely nobody will use the negative ID items unless they want to intentionally make the game hard for themselves or to make a troll build (which would be absolutely infuriating for raids and whatnot). Giving it a benefit makes the item interesting and potentially worthwhile in using, in my opinion.

The rest of the item ids are the upside. So you might have an item with an absurd amount of walkspeed, but negative guardian - similarly to how knucklebones has big upsides, so people use it in spite of the huge -ls and -ms. The negative major ids aren't a reason to use the item - they're a reason not to use the item. At the same time, it could be interesting to have a combination of both a positive and negative ID on one item - like negative roving assassin but the upside of cherry bombs.

    also:
    lightweight: 2x fall damage
taunt: mobs lose aggro on you when casting war scream
greed: lose hp when collecting emeralds
cavalryman: reduce damage while not on a horse
savior's sacrifice: nerf your allies when below 50% hp
magnet: push items away from you
gravity well: reduced blast radius, pushes mobs
    rally: lose hp on charge

Negative Lightweight would just be mildly annoying. I can't think of a situation that is specifically balanced to fall damage (except maybe Orphion, but even that you just cast movement spell).
Negative Taunt wouldn't really make much sense and could even be beneficial.
Negative Greed would just be a bad experience to play with, an item ought not to exist if its unusable.
Cavalryman... is based around being on a horse dealing less damage. Negative Cavalryman would heal enemies 30%, so I don't really see anyone making use of it in any way.
Negative Savior' Sacrifice is just a bit too team-murdery. Like you can just... indefinitely hurt your entire party, maybe even without them noticing.
Negative Magnet would also be a bit silly, and doesn't really make much sense unless you have, say, insane stealing and the boss fight arena specifically has corners.
Negative Gravity Well... actually makes more sense than I thought. +1
Rally is like greed, Negative Rally would just be lame and probably keep you from using Charge excluding a Fallen kamikaze setup.

This idea of negative major IDs pretty cool, but can be polished a bit. To distinguish it from normal major IDs, a Cursed property could be made and applied to some items. Some example curses could be the following:

Unclosing Wounds: Healing you recieve from spells and consumables is reduced by 30%.
Fatigue: Take .3% increased damage for every % depleted you sprint bar is.
Soulrot: Increases probability of dropping items upon death.
Time dragged: Arrow Bomb travel speed is reduced by 20%.
Nocternalism: Only gain soul points when the moon rises (15 minute timer until you can regain soul normally if uniquipped).

I would lean more into things that hurt you in combat than purely to give negative QoL, since that just kind of sucks. There's a game called Remnant: From the Ashes. If you've never played it, it's a souls-like third person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world and whatever that's not important (I do recommend it though if you like that sort of thing). Anyway, it has some of my favorite status effect debuff ideas I've ever seen in a game. All of them target minor things that are precisely calculated to screw you over in combat. My personal favorite is rootrot, which just causes you to cough occasionally. It's super minor and you wouldn't even notice except when you cough it causes you to be unable to react while coughing, so you can get killed because you can't dodge or shoot. Stuff like that that has seemingly minor effects on gameplay that can absolutely get you killed if you aren't careful.

I talking something that changes mage's heal to instead do self-damage, or something that gives a chance for a spell to not cast or to cast incorrectly if a different spell was just cast, or something that can randomly cause you to spin every few seconds. Not serious debuffs, just slight issues that can make it harder to work with the ID in your build, but can be overcome with careful planning or gameplay.
