Where is the Discord prefix wtf!!

I wanna start off by saying: this is not meant for the bot attacks that happen sometimes:
There is very little any server can do against these attacks, since the attacks usually happen in private messages. The only way to deal with them is to ensure reporting them is quick, easy and not complicated so the team can deal with them fast, as well as people taking care of their own security in this case (it's really easy to not fall for those scams haha). The only other attempts bot raids might try are spamming discord invite links in the chats, however the safety measures against that are already there and working so that's (mostly) not an issue.

This thread is meant for people joining attempting to troll, post disgusting content and the likes. Right now, attacks like these are easy if they do tend to happen, and sometimes it even takes a while for action to be taken. To ensure nobody needs a new set of eyes, there should be small, simple settings that should ensure newly joined accounts are not able to possibly post stuff like that without hindering actual innocent newcomers from using the discord.

Of course, anybody is welcome to suggest ideas, but here's the idea i came up with:
The discord already has a bot setting up roles automatically
i think, one way to deal with this is to limit new members access to post links and images with an external role. It would be handed out to people joining for a certain amount of time and then be removed once that time has passed. You could make it a few hours or a few days depending on how sure you wanna be.

Now of course there is a problem: what about people asking for help and need to provide screenshots for better guidance?
Well that uh... is a bit difficult but NOT impossible!

Basically, in order to limit image and gif perms, each channel has their own settings which can be modified for each role as seen above. Meaning, you can limit these perms for mostly targeted channels like #wynncraft, #off-topic and #memes (i guess?) while keeping the perms for channels like #questions. In addition, the settings make it that ONLY people with this new member role are affected by this limitation, meaning you don't have to modify each existing role. You could have every role there is and your perms would be fine, but once you have the role meant to limit these perms, they are limited. It's GENIUS!

It would also kind of help new members understand and learn the general vibe and rules of the server without being carried away. The main channels have a tendency to get a bit wacky on the gifs and topics, and newer members sometimes got carried away too much and proceeded to post/say stuff that most would agree to be a bit too... over the edge. (this is my observation obviously, everybody probably has a different take on this)
I'm just hoping this change will improve the first impressions of new members without limiting them too much (in the example of screenshots for better help) while also preventing seeing the worst stuff the internet has to offer at any given moment.

Edit 1: regarding the bot dm attacks
There is a possible solution to limit the attacks. A custom made bot can open and close the discord at any time when an unusual amount of people joining in a very short amount of time is happening. The bots always swarm in around the same time but don't start until a few hours later.
Also something like this should be noticed pretty obviously haha!

Other than that, the channel #bug_and_player_reports don't feature any message or way to let people know what to do if they receive a bot message. Every time an attack is happening, half the channels get flooded by people sharing the message, asking what's happening and it's just horrible chaos every time and it goes on for hours. Adding a quick and easy info could potentially decrease the chaos happening.
i know pinned messages exist but literally nobody uses them so oops

Please, feel free to share your takes, opinions and suggestions for this.

(might edit this post a few times for new info/ideas so this might not be complete yet)

I for one would definitely stand behind that change, but alas - too overkill and too restrictive.
We already have in place measures towards players who abuse these perms, namely the trolls that join the server; the issue is that they are reactive countermeasures, which IMO only does so much to curb the chaos. While I strongly agree that the moderation can be done proactively to avoid these from happening in the first place, we unfortunately do not have a say in how to implement this as individual moderators (in a way that doesn't result in Salted sending us back to our cages).

#bug_and_player_reports does have the means to deal with the bot raids as a non-staff member:

I mean i can't blame Salted for not choosing to take the proactive approach, given that it ccould possibly be unreliable and a problem at times. There is also the issue that, if you do take away these perms in general, the entire flow of the discord would take a MASSIVE hit, so striking a good balance between preventing bad intentions to casual talk is tricky to deal with, so letting it as is right now just seems like a better move. It shouldn't prevent us from at least brainstorming ideas, who knows maybe somebody strikes gold, even if the very last word is up to the big guy.

Also the great mods vs. #wynncraft gifs war is a big topic in itself for a while now so... the topic will probably stay on the radar for a while haha.

That was just me being blind and stupid, although i feel like this can be improved on a little bit at least. Having to deal with the cluster happening everywhere every time is bleh.
