Death is already avoided because one inherently loses progress and items and emeralds. No one in the game has ever beaten a boss, quest, dungeon, etc. by dying. So I don't know where you're getting this idea that players don't worry about death.

That's why I don't like any of your suggestions because there's no point in making death harder than it already is. We already have hardcore mode for those that care about dying, and these suggestions just make the overall gameplay experience worse and overcomplicated.

I do agree death should be punished, but I don’t feel like this is the right way to do it
The problem with soul points is that you have to wait a while before being able to play again, but this just makes that worse. Having items and money drops reduced is quite annoying, and especially if you are grinding you would just have to wait it out because that will lose a lot for u. Also with stuff such as increased mana and stuff is even worse, because that makes it significantly harder to kill things, and if you died then something had to kill you. If you could not beat it normally, then having this handicap would make it impossible, so u just have to wait it out 2h instead of 20 min.
This actually sounds kinda cool. The only thing is it could be very hard if its in a boss room or a crowded area, and as I said before, if you make it harder when they died in the first place, that just makes it impossible, and can halt your progression

The whole idea that soul points need to stay in because its a way to punish players for death is stupid, many MMOs just have straight up no penalty to death other than you lose time, have to walk back to your corpse, redo the part you died at, etc. FF14 and World of Warcraft literally just have "You lose dura when you die" which is about as punishing as being told you can only have 2 cookies instead of 3 because you weren't a good boy today, its a little annoying but it barely does anything. Soul Points straight up have caused many players to quit, newbies and vets alike, I almost quit because of soul points numerous times and I love this game more than my cat, its just a straight up anti-player feature.
A game shouldn't make you literally wait for sometimes hours so you can play the character you want again, and it shouldn't force players to go out of their way to make resources so that the system is just a minor annoyance anyways. Wynn is one of the ONLY MMOs that punishes you for wanting to retry something after dying, the dura system in games like FF14 and World of Warcraft is literally just "Go to vendor and repair gear" but in Wynn, sometimes if you don't wait, you could lose valuable items that you spent time getting. This isn't an MMO where you should drop your loot on death, this isn't Runescape, this isn't Albion Online, or some other mmo like that, this a theme park MMO with sandbox elements. Only reason soul points exist is because as Salted said, they are too lazy to think of something else, and I think partly because its been in the game so long that people are afraid to remove it.
Instead of just complaining about it, I think I should come up with a way to fix it, so here are a few ways.
    1. Just don't have a system for punishing death: The way Wynn is designed, you are already punished enough when you die, especially in quest areas, good example is Amadel boss fight, where if you die you literally have to run through the entire jungle again then half of the quest area just to restart the fight, soul points don't add to this experience.
    2. Death tax: when you die, Death taxes you a bit of your money, this should be a small amount so that new players don't lose all their money upon dying and vets don't lose literal stacks as well.
    3. Rework the current system: Combo with the Death Tax one, make it to where each time you die, you are taxed a higher percent of emeralds with a max of 5-10% of your total networth or something, and waiting lowers the tax to zero like how the current system does it.
    4. Runescape/Dark Souls like corpse run mechanic: If the player is going to lose items for dying, they should have a way to get them back, most MMOs have this, even hardcore ones, so if you die either make it to where they can pay to get their items back (if you do this keep the payment low so that you don't lose all your money trying to get your stuff back) or just run to a spot that had their items and get it. With this system, you can still keep the SP so that you lose more each death, but can still get it back. To prevent permanent lose of items because you died trying to get them back, either have a system to where all items you drop go to one death pile until you pick it up, or a Death's Chest thing where you can pay to get your items back.

Thats a few ways to fix it without straight up changing how items work, Salted, please do something like this.

Also, for those who believe that death should still insure a penalty (like me) why not instead reward survival. Staying alive could insure a nice buff passed on how long you managed to stay alive for (up to maybe like +50% in everything, I don't know I'm spit-balling here). Dying will of course remove some of this buff, and you'll lose more if you keep dying. That in it self will be motivation to avoid death while still not discouraging newer players losing items is just silly.

Also, I'm actually of fan of just revamping sould points into some sort of brand new system as oppose to removing them entirely. Like maybe you can access a special UI with different that activate upon your death and each requiring different soul point amounts. Some weaker abilities might respawn you but you some free combat experience based on whatever you were fighting or respawn you a temporary buff to your health and damage while the stronger abilities just respawn you on your spot of death. This won't just give having soul points and gathering soul points a purpose other than not losing items (which at best should just be limited to emeralds as a tax to Death) but also integrates death into the gaming experience as an actual mechanic. Just a thought.

I just think it’s much simpler to remove soul points and the benefit of having an extra inventory slot would be the most balanced yet significant compared to any benefit from an alternative soul point system. Plus the player is already very powerful, so there’s no reason to give players more inherent buffs on top of what they already have. Any benefit beyond or below Daily Rewards would be unbalanced.

Fine, but you gotta at least admit it be smarter to move the quest log and the character info compass to somewhere else as well while they're at it.

Now you have all of your hotbar slots.

Its kinda easy to not die in Wynncraft and soul points get refilled pretty quickly but I agree with the fact that a much better way to punish/increase game difficulty could be found.

I don't think they should be fully be removed but oh my god they need to be reworked, as a new player these stupid things don't make any sense, every in game day says that I get a Soul Point, but the counter never changes, I've died exactly once and the counter went down by one,

Am I just dumb? Maybe, actually no, definitely.

but I think this system should at least be simplified, bear minimum.
