My suggestion is to create some sort of newsletter of some kind on the forums in which NPCs from in the game could post about their lives/current events (obviously it would be someone from staff or something actually writing and posting it). Something like this would both make the world feel more alive and do some small worldbuilding, with the stuff posted giving some insight on what life is like for the NPCs with all the stuff going on around them. Since the game doesn't get constant lore updates, this would help slowly and continually expand the lore and is much easier than adding more worldbuilding quests in the game itself. It could also be used to subtly tease new updates and has a ton of potential.

So, do you guys think it would be worth it? If you do or don't, let me know why

EDIT: The new and revised version of this idea is to have an NPC board located in towns (similar to gathering posts) that, upon right clicking, opens up an inventory menu with different character heads. Upon right clicking one of these heads, a message would appear in chat where the chosen NPC from the town/nearby areas would either talk about current events or give hints on quests.

I voted no because they wasn't a "maybe" option. It's a pretty cool idea, but I don't really get I guess how we'd go about. Which characters did you have in mind or just all 500+ (Just questing characters) if add in all characters that have any name/lines at all it jumps real quick. Important people like Graken? Lari? #TweetFromDern

Also I'd argue that like 1/2 the player base has no idea what the forums are unless they run into a problem they can't solve. Then they never touch it again. Maybe releasing something in game, like a merchant that sells a rotating book for like 1 e float around towns. Could even open up future quest for the good ole memes of wynncraft

I was thinking of it being some sort of a news/gossip column in which either named NPCs, random named characters not in the game or anonymous authors could write about events going on around the world. For example, there could be a Troms citizen writing about their opinion on the events of the Lost Royalty quest/the consequences of Lost Royalty. I was thinking of making it akin to something like the old Journal of Justice from League of Legends in which random named characters write about the legends in the league/events related to the legends.

I think it would be better to have it be on the forums rather than in game because it would just be easier and cleaner that way. Having an NPC in game that tells you to check it out or a message in the chat with a link to it would be a good solution I think.

Imo it would break the immersion a bit.

Something like a newboards in most towns would be probably better and also allow messages from dying/disappearing characters. Depending on your level/quests a new messages would appear and stay until you delete them. Also some random messages (which is more in line with what you proposed) would appear.

    Example message:
"After peace between the Owl and Eagle tribe was made by an unnamed Ragnian soldier, a pass between their camps has been opened so that anyone may travel through safely"
    - Rymek after Tribal Agression

Could also be used to give new players hints. I.E before the quest

"The Owl and Eagles tribes are at war... If they are at peace, maybe one could travel quickly and safely between them" because unless you know about some things like Order of the Grook = Fast travel you'll probably never find them because wynncraft veterans have adopted the mentally "Hey, don't quest, just grind, kid" It may be a good idea to reinforce the idea that some quest are stupidly helpful. Selchar to Cork is best fast travel don't @ me

Or just other things like "Pink wool prices sky rocket in the desert as bandits rob and horde them" Trap suggestion is better, but I'm just an idea machine. I'm too antsy, car battery is dead, can't leave, help

But big point, still make it in game. Only Trapincho has the time to be on the forums 24/7 due to transcending to God-hood ten millennium ago

as someone who absolutely adores diving into characters and their backstories, them in general and so on w/ a mass of random little headcanons and the likes. this would probably be one of my favourite things- i don't have a suggestion beyond agreeing w/everyone else saying that they should probably be stated in game rather than out on forums

For the board, maybe it could be an NPC (similar to mini quest posts) located at towns where right clicking them causes a menu to appear with different character heads on it and when you click one it could show their message? After quests or during them, new messages could be added on the board and that way players can look at them if they want a hint without it being obnoxious, while also opening up the worldbuilding aspect of it with non-quest related messages being available.

Yeah, I had exactly that in mind, except it would be probably an inventory , as it allows greater control and organisation.

Ok that part? No, I think characters giving links to websites is something that should really be kept at a minimum. Outside of that, yes this is a good idea. I don't think they should do this for important characters like Lari, since it'd spoil a lot of lore, but as for as just having normal side characters writing about their lives, absolutely.

I think Graken would be a good example, having him write about the situation in Nemract, maybe about attempts by the town to get money from other cities in the rest of the province, would be interesting, but also just having normal citizens write their own sections is a good idea too. It could give us a lot more insight into the normal lives of people in different areas of the server. Maybe people in Nemract harbor some dislike towards people in Detlas, since despite the two cities being relatively close to one another Detlas has become a massive trading hub meanwhile Nemract is one of the poorest cities in the whole province. Or maybe we could get to see what people in Rymek think of the rest of Wynn. There's a lot of interesting perspectives on wynncraft's world that this idea could put on display, that would be hard to delve into with just dialogue and discoveries alone.

Even just the kind of thing that they did for this event, where you can ask NPCs about a few things, would be nice
