Game Mechanics Remove the Set Rarity (93% approval)

Should Set rarity be removed and replaced by the Set characteristic?

    And I don't mean remove set items in general, I mean remove the rarity itself.

    Instead, an item being a "set" item should be a characteristic and not its own rarity. We can have set uniques, set rares and set legendaries (perhaps even set fableds and mythics). Why? Because currently set items can differ greatly in power level but still have the same rarity. It makes it really hard to estimate how powerful any set item may be.

    And tbh, set items are fun concepts but they're not really used outside of the small collection of Morph, Cosmic, Champion and Adventurer's. The tradeoff to using set items shouldn't be a weaker baseline, it should be the fact that you have to sacrifice multiple armor/accessory slots in order to get a certain bonus. Sacrifice build flexibility for stats.

    With that said, Morph, Cosmic, Champion and Adventurer's sets should probably be legendary sets.
    Ornate Shadow can become a set aswell, though with negative side-effects to using more than one item.
    The earlygame sets could become rare sets along with the corrupted uth/nii sets.
    Finally, sets that can be bought like the bear set and tribal set can be unique.

    And lastly, removing set rarity can make way for mythic sets. I'd love to see legendary/fabled armor set rewards from raids as well.

    Those are my thoughts.

    This also would make the average morph stardusts per chest less than one.

    Lol I had a dream that the corrupted uth and nii set became legendaries instead of set items so i thought i'd give this a bump

    The main problem with this is that set rarity exists to show players that the item is part of a set, nothing more and nothing less. Ans no, indicating a set as part of the items identifications isn't a good alteenative either.

    What does need to happen is fixing set rarity's extremely strange drop chances, but that's an unrelated issue being named here.

    Yes, have ''Set'' be a detail on an item similar to ''Quest item'' or ''Soulbound item''

    This way finding 3 Morph-Stardusts per loot chest won't happen anymore.

    I do think that the ''Set'' aspect of the items should remain visible when looking in a loot chest though. Maybe either keep the box the same or add more box designs for each type of set item (Green padlock on the boxes to represent a set item?)

    This would also allow for the possibility of Mythic sets which would be pretty cool to see

    Also the Santa set could finally become an actual set

    for reference, skyblock has a few objectively best sets of gear so its just the meta now

    It's very easy to indicate that the item is a set item before it's even identified right? I mean if you are allowed to know the rarity and the item type, might as well also know whether or not it's part of a set. It's just that I think the set rarity is wasted because of its terrible baseline, not to mention that a bunch of set items (the good ones) don't conform to this baseline which makes having set as a rarity even more arbitrary in my opinion.

    And set items aren't wasted because of terrible baseline, sets generally are more or less custom designed around other items (well, the ones with relatively complicated design- the others don't count). It's just to show that an item is part of a set. And that is important to show in the manner that it currently does, as any other way would start cluttering up items too much and make it increasingly less clear that an item is part of a set, especially if we also want to keep specific sets as easy to use & acquire leveling builds.

    I don't really get what the complaint in this thread is as
    - we've established that baselines are not of much direct effect
    - drop rates for sets are currently strange and wrong somewhere, but this is an easier fix than having some totally new tag for unidentified items added and then try to concisely put it on non-set items as well
    - sets may be imbalanced between set items across all levels but I can honestly say that uniques are even worse in this regard, especially when considering full sets

    Skyblock just has absolutely no balancing whatsoever so regardless of what the IMs do itll be better than skyblock

    Their balancing problem IMO is instead of actualkt balancing if they don’t want few shottable mobs they just make it immune
    Legit everything out of dungeons is immune to my juju outside of dungeons and I hate it (except for like mobs that have 2k hp that I can one punch)
