Hello. I wanted to give a quick summary of tomes in their current state, and then my suggestion of how i think the system can be improved for more QoL.

Currently tomes are an interesting edition. They are hated by diehard fans for good reasons. I personally don't mind them since more dmg go brrrr lmao. However what i dislike greatly is how they are placed. Getting tomes in raids is not the issue. It how you unlock the slots. Currently these are the slots:

    DMG TOMES:
unlocks - mob dmg, requires - NotG raid (good makes sense! you have to do a challenge to unlock damage buffs!

unlocks - mob dmg, requires - proff lvl 300 (ah yes swinging a pickaxe for weeks relates to doing damage. please explain how this makes any sense??? shouldn't MOBS KILLED relate to MOB DMG DONE?? or damage done TO MOBS? please explain)

    SLAYING TOMES (xp gain bonus)
unlocks - more xp gained, requires - Loot Chests (yes!!! this is good, adventuring and exploring to gain more xp, not satire here i think this is good :D)

unlocks - more xp gained, requires - Discoveries (also yes this is good! adventuring for more xp. this is well made and RELATES TO THE TOME SLOT)

    GATHERING TOMES:

unlocks - more gathering xp, requires - guild wars (im sorry what? guild wars....for proffs...what if we used proff lvl???? which makes sense? or maybe move guild wars to the GUILD TOME SLOT??? hmmm)

unlocks - more gathering xp, requires - visiting houses (....what. Houses, a game mechanic that ONLY relates to proffs because of houses needing mats for blocks. Hey at least 1 thing relates, im okish with this one, its not good but not crap)

    DUNGEONERING TOMES:

unlocks - more dungeon xp, requires - Temple of legends (aight i can see this one, again proving yourself inorder to get a tome slot, challenge for a reward. Good 10/10)

unlocks - more dungeon xp, requires money spent on trade market (?? how. How do dungeons relate to trade markets. Almost like theres a req called #of unique dungeons completed that would FIT THIS SLOT BETTER)

    ARMOR TOMES:

unlocks - dmg resisted, requires - Secret discoveries (uhhhhh it doesn't relate? but ig since its "lore" and its at most fun to do (even if it takes hours))

unlocks - dmg resisted, requires - Quests done (again, why? why not have TCC req like the NotG one? oh well not horrible)

unlocks - dmg resisted, requires - mob kills (again no this should be in weapon mastery since its directly relates to mobs killed, this could also go to slaying since slaying xp is straight up mobs killed but ok.)

unlocks - dmg resisted, requires - Unique dungeon wins( i honestly dont understand why the CT placed these reqs in the ways they did)

IMO unlocking slots for toms is horrendous. The slots and the reqs barely match if not at all. Only a small few make sense.

Proffs are universally hated, even by the proffers (bc its rlly tedious however pays well, good mechanic for grinders, and can be nice for late night YT vids). Why is proffs in the weapon dmg second instead of the proffs section? Wouldnt it make more sense to place proffs in proffs? that way people arnt forced to do tons of proffs inorder ot use a combat based tome? AND BETTER YET. people who do proffs are REWARDED by getting proff tomes slots! there is no reason to do this other than forcing gameplay on people. IMO the reason its like this is due to the CT wanting players to do proffs with no way around. They are in quests, in tomes, etc. Proffs are good but should NEVER be forced upon players who are not interested. its not cool nor good gameplay.

Guild wars should go to the guild slot since NOT EVERYONE LIKES GUILDS. again forced gameplay. A solo player who wants to do proffs cant because they HAVE to do guild wars. this makes so sense and has no relation to proffs.
Armor Reqs IMO should be the three different raids being completed. That means doing NotG, NoL, and TCC are important. Giving each raid a legit use. Currently only NotG is important. the other two have nothing but tomes to give.

Why is money spent on the trade market where doing dungeons is? wouldn't uqniue dungeons done fit better?
again the placement of these reqs makes little to no sense.

Its not as if the CT didn't have reqs that would fit with the tome slots. They do. most of the reqs in the game currently can simply be switched around and make sense for each tome slot. No new reqs need to be created, they simply need to be move to areas that relate to the tomes.

I think Salted might've said that it was so players try many things, though do not take my word on that

i'm not certain about this, but i think i saw a while ago that the reason is that you're not meant to have to grind out one thing (i.e. dungeons) just to only afterwards get a buff on them, rather, you can grind out something else to unlock it and have the buff all the way through
obviously this can't create a full loop or anything since you still have to grind at least one thing with no buff, but i think that's the general idea, it's not that they haven't thought of it or wouldn't be able to for some weird reason
(or maybe i'm remembering completely wrong and it's something entirely different idk)

yeah which is fine, but it seems poorly done. I shouldnt have to spend weeks of proffing to unlock a slot made for a weapon. This system is fine if the reqs were much more obtainable. Currently its easier to get the tomes before the slots
