What does Guardian consider to be "allies"?

I made a post very similar to this one like 8 months ago but I didn't get any real answers, they were all just random guesses, assumptions, or unhelpful answers.

Guardian has a major ID of the same name that redirects damage taken by nearby "allies" onto you, but what does the major ID consider to be allies? Is it just any players around you? Party members? Guild members? Friends?

 

Probably just players in general. It could be restricted to party members, but I don't really think that's how it would be implemented.

 

ignis heals any player nearby so guardian should work the same way

 

(Preface: I don't actually know) but presumably nearby players and nearby allied mobs (guards, mobs with blue name tags)

 

Honestly I highly highly doubt that this Major ID applies to mobs with blue name tags.

 

Any player within the effect's range other than Hunted players(if you're in Hunted mode) or players you're presently dueling against. It has no effect on anything or anyone else.
