Recently an update was made to the dialogue system, forcing you to sneak to go to the next line in a dialogue. This system is nice in some cases, but I often prefer not doing anything and just reading the text. Just sitting back and watching what is happening applies especially to when you are using a mod called "Wynn VP" which is a mod that is adding voices to all quests in wynncraft which is 25% done. This mod will make it easier for dyslexic and other people that don't enjoy reading so much people to play wynncraft.

What I am suggesting is that there should be a toggle to the shift system. Instead of having the "Press shift to continue" start blinking red when it would have normally gone to the next line, it would then just go to the next line automatically if a player would enable this toggleable feature which could go by the name "Automatic dialogue".

So, a feature like this would allow players to customize their Wynncraft experience even more as well as use some dialogue mods to make their experience even better.

Feel free to leave feedback on this toggleable setting.

    Thanks!

The devs said this isn't possible.
    I see 3 solutions here:
1: Just go back to the old dialogue system
2: Rework the entire system so i can be toggled
3: Just bare with it I guess

Why would this not be possible? They have the timing for when the player is done reading, so then it could just go to the next line?

Why can't it be possible? I can't think of a way the system would have to be built, to not allow this. The only thing that has to be done is call the function, which is normally called when the player presses shift, along with the function that launches the blinking of the "Press shift" message. Did the devs clarify this somehow?

Hey @AmbassadorDazz can you explain why the devs can't code that?

The reason why toggleable dialogue systems are not viable in my opinion is because it will be more unnecessary spaghetti (code) for devs to deal with.

Also, don't tag the developers unless you have a really good reason to do so.

I mean, a feature like this wouldn't really require much code. Just an if that checks if the person has toggled it and if they have it enabled then it runs the same code that is run when shift is pressed. It can't require much more code then the 25 other toggleable settings

EvanOrizam probably thinks that this is a really good reason, but I'm guessing you don't. So what counts as a "really good reason"?

Yes please. No need to revert some things (like no chat history) but making an option for it to auto progress would be great

Although I don't see anything wrong with the chat system myself, It would be cool if it could be toggleable for the people who do.

Also I think the dialogue should be reset back to normal if it can't be toggled

I think that these are some good QoL features and toggles related to the unskippable dialogue:
    - Add a feature to rebind the 'Press (Bound Key) to continue'
    - Add a toggle for automatic dialogue (like the old system)
    - Or add a feature for the 'Press (key) to continue' only after the whole dialogue/cutscene has finished

Right off the bat, I'd like to clarify that it simply isn't possible to add a full toggle for the system, for several reasons. The way it's implemented within content makes it impossible to remove without needing to heavily modify the scripts that make the quest function. It's not possible to individually toggle on or off for any specific person.

Something I personally like to see when talking about the system is ways to improve it, since it's here to stay, and nothing is going to change that.

I'm a fan of both these additions, and I'd honestly suggest you make a new thread for them.

However, this entirely isn't possible, again due to how it's implemented within quests.
