  2. No, that sounds like a waste of developer time. I want to lose my mythics.

    I’m unsure of the limitations for Minecraft, and particularly Wynncraft. Though, as a Developer myself, I don’t see anything inherently complicated about this suggestion.

    For every player in a server while restarting;

    Save player location

    Kick player

    Take items within 5 or 10 blocks of players last location and store them in a temporary inventory/store. (Could delete data after 5 minutes)

    If player logs back in to another server, drop the items near the player again, giving them access to the items they would have otherwise lost.

    The only part about that which seems could be problematic is if the chunk is unrendered after the player is kicked, but before dropped item data is saved. I’m sure with a bit of thought, something could definitely be implemented.

    There have been a number of servers today which are restarting without warning. Some of them less than an hour old. I was holding Capricorn’s that I bought literally seconds before in my hands. Server randomly restarted, seemingly dropping those Capricorn’s and then I permanently lost them. They were completely gone from my inventory, for nothing. Something completely out of control, and without warning.

    I understand not replacing player’s lost items as this sort of thing can be abused. I do however believe there should be a focus on preventing issues like this from occurring.

    I have spent hundreds of dollars on this game in the past week. As a new/returning player, this is something that doesn’t sit well with me. Losing progress for literally no reason drastically effects the quality of gameplay and could cause you to lose tens, or hundreds of thousands of dollars in future store transactions. I spend thousands on games, sometimes tens of thousands; and could easily see myself spending thousands on Wynncraft. It’s things like this that make me reconsider those decisions though.

    This hasn’t happened to me yet but I’m in full support of this in the off chance that a server restart happening out of nowhere would make me lose an expensive/important item

    This seems potentially abusable?

    The fix?

    Again, I'm entirely unsure what the limitations are for Minecraft. In conversation about it on Discord, I did have someone say that it sounds like it could be abused as a dupe.

    If there is no way to determine who dropped the item, then it's simply not the method which can solve the issue. (As in two people standing next to each other waiting for server to restart, in order to get the item back twice, on their perspective accounts)

    Perhaps I presented this the wrong way. It's not necessarily about using the specific solution I suggested, it's about bringing attention to the importance of finding something in order to mitigate some of these issues. It would undoubtably result in a better player experience, as well as more income for the server. I imagine there have been many players who either stopped spending money, or spent less money due to lack in confidence for the systems put in place to protect their time, or money.

    I'm not sure exactly how these random server restarts occurred. I'm unsure if perhaps I missed the message that the server was restarting in one of those scenarios. If it crashed for whatever reason without warning, perhaps there simply is nothing that can be done. It is however possible for the same issue to occur in a server where a server restart is expected. Even something as simple as a more visual warning/actual harassment of the player. Text reminders that if they interact with their items, that there is a chance items could be lost, etc. A lot of people aren't familiar with how these issues take place and don't take a server restart seriously until they've actually lost an item. We could talk here for hours about different things that could mitigate these losses. The main suggestion is just to put minds together, consider giving things a real thought and making efforts to stop these things from happening.
