I've been leveling a character recently, and one thing I've noticed in the level 80+ range is how terrible grinding is compared to dungeons. There is quite literally no incentive to grind: it's slower, it's more risky than a dungeon party (and honestly only a little less risky than going alone if my deaths grinding vs dungeon running are to be believed), you get less loot, and, now that the forgery chest is a thing, you're missing out on potential mythics.

That's a lot of negatives, so let's look for some positives. It uhhhhhh... It doesn't take a key (which is admittedly slightly expensive right now) or a dungeon bomb (which you can find pretty often on at least one server), and it, uhhhh... It lets you use mob totems if you have a rank (which as of right now doesn't even work I believe)? I dunno, I can't think of any others. Please tell me if I missed one.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is that there is no reason to grind lategame. There used to be, back when mobs could drop items and there was the potential to get a mythic while grinding, but now the opposite is true: you are able to get mythics via dungeon, but not grinding. But now it is slower, less profitable and less active (which is be inclined to say makes it less fun).

Now, some of you are probably saying, "but Melkor, you could grind on non-grind mobs!" right about now. Yeah, have fun with that. All the useable grinding spots I know of are grind mobs now, and grinding anywhere that isn't, well... Yeah. And anyway, what exactly is the point of having the grind mobs in the first place if they're worse than running around trying to find normal mobs with a decent spawnrate?

So, how do I propose to remedy this? Well, if you read the title, you've probably guessed. Making grind mobs back into normal mobs and allowing grind mobs to drop items (or especially keeping them as grind mobs but instead giving them slightly higher item drop rates) would actually give players an incentive to grind rather than to spam.dungeons.

Yes, this would cause inflation, and yes, it would most certainly lead to more mythics than we already have, but compared to loot quality, it won't have a huge impact. And I say that with a lot of confidence, since this was the case for most of Gavel's history.

technically starred mobs no longer exist in 1.20 (that's what the wiki says, I have also checked a few of my previous grind spots and found them empty or rebuilt into something else)
but ye I sort of agree with everything else

Grind mobs still exist but are just less obvious to seek, although dungeon running takes a lot more time than going in a grind spot with good AOE and xp bonus builds and im not even talking about totems that makes this 2x more effective. Plus grind spots are free to use, where dungeons arent and need keys. So no removing them is a bad idea for me. And now in 1.20 I think they added loot mobs so if you are interested in loot grinding and not xp grind then maybe try to seek for these loot spots.

Please change the poll to be about getting rid of grind mobs (the suggestion) not some other semi-related question.

While I think forgery runs are more worthwhile and overall fun, the option to grind from grind mobs should remain present for consistency.

The idea isn't to remove grinding; it's specifically to remove grind mobs - mobs that give no loot, only xp.

They did add loot mobs in 1.20 I think, but I believe that those give no xp, so there's also no real reason to grind those rather than lootrunning. They've got the same problem in my opinion, rather than fixing the problem with grinding being underwhelming overall.
