Website & Forums Ideas For New Forum Flairs

Currently, there are a lot of interesting forum flairs such as Featured Wynncraftian and HICH master, which are not based on actual ingame ranks/staff positions and instead on accomplishments. I have a few ideas for more:

Suggestor: Awarded to people who have suggested something that ended up being added to the game (not menial things like ''rework this area'' more like ''rework this area and do this and that for it''. the ''this and that'' would have to be partially or fully included. One example is Novalescent.

Dedicated: Awarded to people who have spent 100 consecutive days making a profile post revolving around a certain topic. Examples include Gelbin, Emolga3, KelvinFT_DIU etc. 100 days is enough to turn people desperate for a unique title off IMO

Veteran: Awarded to people who have the vet rank ingame

Top 5: Awarded to people who are in the top 5 of one of the forum leaderboards

I might come back and add more later but for now I'm out of ideas

 

Gelbin deserves his own rank.

 

Originally I was going to suggest that one as ''Craftedmovie fan'' and the description would just be ''Give it to Gelbin'' but I realised there are other people who do the same thing and I didn't want the thread to look like a shitpost

I think an artist flair would be a good idea as well

 

I was gonna suggest that but that's already a flair given to staff who make art for the server and its advertising so it wouldn't work

 

First, vet flair is actually a good idea. I would rather see a flair for years on the forums sorta like what Reddit has with badges, but I could go either way. Beyond that though...

The best flair is the one below your name where you can write literally anything you want, anything except suicide jokes. I learned that one the hard way. I guess "I want to /kill myself" was a little too edgy for Selvut's taste...
Anyways, back to my point, flairs are for identifying people for who they are, not the community content they make or what they do for the community.

First, suggester is just a bad idea. The reason why is because people suggest tonnes of logical stuff all the time which is bound to happen. For example, I suggested on a housing thread that blocks should cost materials, does that mean I would get the flair? Of course not, because that's not my idea, that's the obvious thing to do, but it just shows that there's no objective way to determine if a suggestion was added. Stuff like raids and housing were also suggested a lot which is specifically why they were added in the first place, how would you give out flairs in a case like that?

Dedicated is just bad, people make enough dumb profile posts as is, we really don't need more.

Top 5 would almost entirely be given to the mods, plus the leaderboard already exists so it's really redundant, plus Salted already has like 6 flairs, he really doesn't need another one. Seriously though, gamifying the forums and pitting people against each other is just going to lead to a bunch of garbage and spam posts to try and get the top spots.

 

I think maybe something for people who have made notable contributions to the server or community has a whole; ex-CT, people who have made major suggestions; people who have done something major to improve the game like Novalescent or possibly people who have made large informative forum threads or something.

 

That's what Featured Wynncraftian is for.

 

Sort of. I'm envisioning something a little more specific but with similar intent.

 

Why though? FW already exists and people already know what it's for. It serves the exact purpose as what you suggested which is to recognize the people who contribute the most to the community, I don't really see how you can get more specific then that plus all the people who would get whatever flair you're suggesting have already or should get FW anyways.

Really, all we need is proper reform for FW so people actually get it regularly instead of having 3 FW's at once then going months without one. Unfortunately, Wynn has zero commitment to their community so that's never going to happen, but for that same reason adding more flairs will also never work out.

Messages and likes are also a good* way of seeing how much somebody has contributed to the community, we really don't need more ways to see the same information.

 

Ill have 3 top 5 flairs.... yea sure why not
(tbh a lot of the top 5 are on all the leaderboards)

Not Top 5 Points, Top 5 Likes, Top 5 Posts.
