The Ocean. What's the best part of it? Maybe you say Selchar, or Mage Island. Likely you say Zhight Island.
That's the issue here: every likable part of the ocean, is, well, the islands. The water itself is dreaded. Orphion forbid that one time you can't directly take the fast travel to Christmas Island for the quest.
    My suggestion is this:

Greatly deepen the ocean and add mobs, discoveries, sunken cities, and maybe even a raid.

Two issues arise from this idea that I forsee:
1.) The ocean is currently at too low of a Y-value to deepen it without hitting the void.
I'd fix this by adding a "foggy" layer near the bottom that you can pass through that teleports you to a new section of the world that can be appropriately built to have room. This can also act as a feasible barrier that stops players that are too low level from entering.
    2.) Water sucks.
I'm not 100% on the possibility of this, but use the texture pack to set water in a certain biome to be much clearer when submerged, so it's not the murky mess it usually is. Also, you could give the player an appropriate grade of Depth Strider when they enter the Deep Ocean (Could scale with movespeed %), along with the ability to breathe underwater. These buffs could be obtained through a quest that introduces the Deep Ocean.
Again, not 100% on the possibility of this either, but use the program that lets the devs use higher version blocks in Wynncraft to let them use the fantastic ocean blocks and waterlogging feature of 1.14.

    Potential Mobs:
Fish, of course! Friendly fish roaming all regions of the ocean, with some hostile ones outside of safe areas. You can't forget sharks, dolphins, and whales! I'd love to see some titanic sized blue whale-looking creatures floating throw the ocean.
For NPCs, the most obvious is mermaids, but you could really get creative with what kind of creatures live where. Species with no eyes that live in dark trenches, or territorial cave dwellers.

    The City:
There should be a safe area in the Deep Ocean, so some Atlantis-esque city would be awesome. There isn't much more to say about that.

    Potential Biomes:
There are plenty of ideas to explore here. Obviously, the Seavale Reef could be greatly expanded upon. Some other ideas include:
-Steam vents biome surrounding the Volcanic Isles
    -Shipwreck biome surrounding Galleon's Graveyard
-A rocky, cavernous biome surrounding Maro Peaks
-An deep, cold biome surrounding the Ice Islands
There are plenty of others that could be added that have magical origins.

    A Raid:
Who doesn't love gigantic, soul eating water beasts! I think a raid would be a perfect fit with some sort of Kraken type boss.

    What level?
This could really be anything. It could start as low as level 10, or as high as 100. I think the most appropriate level would be around 75-95, because you'd be done with Wynn and about halfway through Gavel. Also, it would add level 80 content that isn't the canyon of the lost (will to live). It would provide a nice contrast to the cotl, molten heights and sky islands because they have no water at all.

    Quests?
I think a three part quest series would be appropriate that 1.) introduces the deep ocean, 2.) introduces a main conflict within the deep ocean, and 3.) eventually unlocks the raid at the end.
Conflicts could include, but are not limited to: trying to stay hidden from the above water folk; the corruption having a special effect on water; pollution seeping out from Corkus; or a new separate entity that creates an issue, like the raid boss.
Miscellaneous quests could be about things like searching for treasure, recovering souls lost at sea, etc. etc.

    Misc. things:
-Could add breedable dolphins to replace horses
-Could add unique harvestable resources that give different effects than their land counterparts
    - Somehow(?) make arrows and other projectiles travel the same as on land
-Could add a type of air-bladder item that you can toggle to help you rapidly ascend and descend within the water
-Loot chests could be replaced with sunken treasure, which instead has random spawn points and floats down from the surface to discourage mindless loot running

TL;DR: Make the ocean into an explorable region with actual content that isn't just the islands.

Feel free to ask questions. I know big things like this really don't get added, but hey, I was bored.

Oh another one of these threads.

Don't get me wrong, that's not supposed to be an insult, it's a common suggestion for a reason, but it's also been made more then once now.

Good idea, definitely would work as a basis for an ocean update.

I dont feel that being directly in the water would be a great idea but however Id like to see an deed ocean region, maybe having something like a maelstorm in the actual ocean, it could be used to teleport players in the deep ocean region, or even realm. And my idea to feel like being underwater but without the need to actually be in the water is to make an big roof with invinsible blocks and to put water on it so you cant see the moon or the sun and of course in the buildings will be built like if it really was underwater, so no fountains or rivers etc.

    this is a good idea^
also, a raid doesn't seem very realistic, because assuming the raid would be done level 60, It seems to be too close a level to Grootslangs, so maybe moving Galleon's Graveyard into the deep would make much more sense.

The ocean would probably be much more popular with some more cities or towns, and an Atlantis like city could be used to expand on the ocean lore (which is lacking a bit compared to Wynn, Gavel and Corkus lore imo).

I think the current lore (or if it's just something that people say) is that the ocean region isn't really impacted by the corruption for whatever reason. Though it would be an interesting plot, exploring what exactly it is that makes the ocean non-susceptible to the corruption.

Or just having a new storyline out of the corruption lore and the realm war could be great

Honestly I love this idea. A void layer to go to the deep ocean could be really fucking awesome and there really is just so much that could be done with it. I suppose also you could level the entire ocean between 15 and 100 should you wish. Totally a ton of potencial in this idea and I'd love to see it.

    • secret discoveries
    • skins for the dolphins

How would the “fog” layer work exactly? Wouldn’t there have to be like a unique teleport for every block of fog? I think it would feel kinda unimersive and messy.

if they ever update to 1.17, with the new depth being 64 blocks deeper, this could be possible and I'd love to see it added
although, tbh that's not gonna happen any time soon .-.

something like the part of purple and blue where you go into the lake could be done, where there is not actually any water. of course, this means there would be no swimming as well

a rework of the sarnfic quest maybe?

Absolutely love this Idea having the ocean be an actual part of the game rather than just seaskippering or using the nexus would be so cool even if it isn’t the whole ocean and just a section of it that goes deeper would be really amazing to explore and play hopefully with some secret discoveries in the ocean and for some of the islands too

    "That's a soul-devouring-sea-worm!"

Nice suggestion! The part of having 1.12.2+ blocks and making deeper ocean for the whole ocean (too much content for the devs to do, but I guess having deep ocean rift(s) that covers only a small part can be cool) would be impossible, but others seems nice too!

The idea of making swimming in water more player-friendly will be good for developing underwater biomes and their mobs/features. While there probably won't be as much content as on land, they can expand the current diving spots into the suggested underwater biomes, with new animals, monsters, treasures and maybe even a skill or mechanic.

I think Sarnfic need a rework, currently it is just an underground tunnel with weird buildings, blue zombies and two insanely rich loot chests. Would like to see if they actually made it into a Wynnic Atlantis. The merpeople village/town/city also seems cool as we didn't have any ocean-related friendly sapient species yet.
