Currently tomes (obtained in raids) have a primary ID and 1+ secondary IDs.

    New Project(11).png

Both the primary ID and the secondary ID(s) are rollable, but while secondary IDs have the normal 0.3-1.3 range for rolls, the primary IDs have a 0.85-1.15 range. This means that on a tome with a low base (such as the armor tomes from Grootslang) the primary IDs are effectively static. With a base value of 3, 0.85 or 1.15 rolls are not enough to make the primary ID roll a 2 or 4. This should be the case for all tomes. All tomes should have static primary IDs (this is done by making the range 1.0-1.0). Take a look at this mythic tome:

    mythic tome.png

Notice how the primary ID is 4%, less than the 5% fabled one I showed above? That's because the base for fabled armor tomes is 4, and the base for mythic armor tomes is 5. With the roll range of 0.85-1.15, it means that fableds can roll from 3-5, and mythics can roll from 4-6. If you want to actually use a mythic tome, you had better hope you roll a 6% one, because otherwise it's no better (or even worse!) than a good fabled. If the primary IDs were made static this would no longer be an issue, and mythic tomes would always have a higher primary ID than fabled tomes.

The final reason why the primary IDs should be made static is because even if those IDs are static, you will still have an incentive to try to get better tomes since the secondary IDs are rollable. Tomes aren't like dungeon rewards where you run the dungeon a few times until you get the rewards you need. With rollable secondary IDs, and with how specific tomes are fairly rare, you'll still be running raids quite a lot to get the best tomes you can.

I'm not going to get into the disparity between the secondary IDs on fableds vs mythics. This thread is solely about how the primary IDs are rollable.

TL;DR: Make the primary IDs (white text) on tomes static rather than rollable.

If the ID range is that small I understand why it should be made static. I'm up for this.

definitely agree, it feels like its a remnant of when the ranges were larger, and that was the only thing tomes provided.

Bumping but also adding that the primary IDs on tomes are like base health on armor, it should just be static since it's the core of the tome itself.

TCC fabled armor tomes only have a 10% (3/31) chance to roll 5% resistance. Rolling a 5% resistance tome (considering fabled tomes aren't a guaranteed drop) can take 10+ TCC runs. And even if you do roll a 5% resistance tome, if the secondary IDs don't have good rolls then you won't be using it anyway. Making the primary IDs static would ensure that getting good tomes will be less of a tremendous grind.

Now that Orphion’s Nexus of Light is out, we know the primary ID base values of the new fabled and mythic weapon tomes. The fabled base is 8 (7-9 range), and the mythic base is 9 (8-10 range). Once again, that means unless you roll the max value on a mythic, it will be equal to or worse than a fabled. I don’t want to get into the secondary IDs, but with the primary ID values being so similar between fabled and mythic, the disparity between the secondary IDs of the two rarities means that mythic tomes (from both TCC and NoL) will go unused by many players who obtain them. Making the primary IDs static would make tomes much easier to balance and would partially alleviate the disparity between fabled and mythic tomes.

This is just so idiotic, you already need to hunt for a good prefix, needing to hunt for a good roll too is just bad. The ranges are already so small anyways, making the main ID's static is a no brainer. Nice suggestion <3

anyways, yes, I'd love to see this in-game, makes close to zero sense that RNG should decide stats of tomes, especially if the range is ridiculously small
