DISCLAIMER: The following paragraph applies only to Hunted Mode players, or players who selected the "Hunted" character playstyle amplifier upon class creation.

I'd be strongly in favor of unlocking the ability to toggle hunted mode on and off upon successful completion of a hunter's calling on a hunted mode run.

The hunted symbol would be gray while hunted mode is deactivated, but purple when active.

Think of it as the equivalent to a Pokemon Nuzlocke run- the Nuzlocke completion itself is a testament to the player and the deed they've accomplished, whereas the post-game removes the limitation and allows the player to move around without penalty. In the same way, Wynncraft players would be able to be proud of their achievement while also not being permanently crippled in terms of usable builds for endgame.

Naturally, I'm not asking for there to be any other rewards for the completion of a hunted run. Hunted mode should still be brutal in its own right when activated.

Of course, this implies that you'll actually have to have hunted mode toggled on for the professions exp boosts to be activated. This isn't a poor excuse for hunted players to be able to bask in the prof exp boosts without having to suffer the consequences- as usual, you'll have to earn them.

There's a few neat alterations that can be made to the final quest dialogue sequence that would make hunted mode more of a lore thing with this addition, too. Hunted mode, specifically, actually has a story-related reason for it to end. After all, what Hunted player wouldn't be interested in "an ending?"

This thread is dedicated to all the poor suckers who found themselves 105 levels deep into a Hunted mode run only to realize that they can't actually work with builds. My heart goes out to all of you.

Would the symbol change colour after it has been deactivated once, i.e. it is purple at the start, grey when deactivated, some other colour every other time it is activated; because then people can show off how they didn't disable it (like in HICH)

I was originally thinking that the color would show whether the Hunted mode player had hunted toggled on or off, meaning it would display as purple if it was active and gray if it is not.

However, I see where you're coming from. That could also work. The problem, I feel, that arises when you begin to add permanent gray marks is that Hunted mode simply isn't like Hardcore mode-- Hardcore mode features a permanent change from an orange icon to a gray icon, but that's because the entire mode is focused on one thing and one thing only, that being not dying. Hunted doesn't really focus on that gamemode, so I wouldn't see a reason to make it a permanent, especially if the color of the icon can alert nearby players as to whether they have enabled PvP or not.

But yeah, I guess it could work either way.

I actually did a hunted warrior playthrough and have a pretty good hunted hero build that I can do endgame pve stuff with. It’s annoying that I can’t change but I’ve adapted to it

You can adapt to Hunted, sure. It's not a question of whether it's impossible to work with or not-- it's more of an issue where once you've actually completed the challenge of making it to the endgame with Hunted mode, it becomes a permanent, crippling detriment without any decent tradeoff.

And in this case, it's a tradeoff that doesn't really make sense.

I don’t really like this idea, because you chose to activate perma-hunted, so now you have to deal with perma-hunted. This suggestion just lets you reap all the benefits without having to deal with the consequences of having a perma-hunted class at max lvl.

See, I'm all for the hunted mode being activated throughout normal game. That's fine. You signed up for a challenge, and now you're going to get it. But once you've actually completed standard gameplay, what else is there to do? It becomes a crippling factor that prevents you from getting as much enjoyment as you possibly can from the run. In other words, you've doomed it from the start. I'm not advocating for any reward, either. No fancy boosts or whatnot. You either play on hunted and have the profession and combat XP boosts, or you toggle it off and have standard gameplay.

That's the way I see it, anyways. I'm not trying to invalidate your opinion; you make a very fair point.

I normally hate bumping threads, but I feel very strongly about this point, and taking a look at the polls, I can see that a significant majority of voting Wynncrafters do, too.

I can't let an opportunity like this go to waste.

What if you just turn on hunted just for the higher xp gain then turn it back off at 103, seems pretty easy to abuse for powerleveling classes

That's a fair point. Hunted mode's perma-hunted only really affects combat exp gained-- that is, exp from farming mobs. The big problem I have with it, though, is the drop chance for standard gear. You don't just drop the gear to player kills, either-- any death will result in you dropping approximately 10% of your IDed items and 30% of your unIDed items.

Say I have a hypothetical endgame hunted character that's already beaten the eye, AHC, you name it. I want to work with better builds and grind for better materials. However, a simple lag spike could end up costing me a legendary chestplate or whatnot. It's not the type of stress that you want to have to deal with, especially when you've "beaten" the game for all practical purposes.

Whereas normal hunted mode can be toggled on any class at any moment, perma-hunted players are forced to deal with the crippling drop chance, even when the challenge has been completed.
