I hope it isn't too controversial to say guilds have been a long neglected feature of Wynn. I mean, I had a guild in which I couldn't kick people for nearly 2 years, and it was only fixed around a year ago. That aside, I would like to talk about the updates coming to guilds and my thoughts on them.

First of all: great news guys guild serve a purpose, you can deal more damage to mobs within the land owned by your guild, recieve more xp, etc. That's great, its exactly what guilds needed, a reason to exist. Only one problem, they are HEAVILY nerfing guild slots in early-to-mid level range.

Big guilds have always had a distinct advantage when it comes to controlling land, and instead of adding a way to make it easier for smaller guilds to hold some land, they did a full 360 and have essentially made it nearly impossible for guilds below level 70 to have a chance to ever hold land. I mean, exactly what guilds DIDN'T need was a nerf, I could not think of a single reason to nerf small-to-mid sized guilds and leave guilds like FOX, which will be only losing around 5 slots, basically untouched. I mean, who actually said "those darn small-to-mid sized guilds are just too strong. They have turned war into a game you only get to play if you are in one of the top (x) guilds.

Now, to me the only reason big guilds aren't getting this major nerf is because all the influential players would riot. Almost as if they consciously foresaw the problem with nerfing large guilds filled with influential players. I'm not suggesting malevolence, but I am suggesting forceful negligence. To not nerf big guilds but specifically target guilds who might not have the same player base as lets say, (insert big name guild here), is nothing short of a complete lack of forethought or an extreme amount of the the wrong kind of forethought.

Overall I'm happy that guilds are going to be buffed in terms of serving a purpose, but am saddened to see guilds like mine having to lose upwards of 10 players for seemingly no reason.

The thing is guilds are notoriously difficult to balance. If you tip it more towards small guilds, guilds will split up into smaller guilds to gain advantage.

While i'm sure this is true, nerfing small-to-mid sized guilds seems to be the exact opposite of a solution, as none of these guilds even hold land at this point. You are nerfing them for no reason other then a problem MIGHT occur

Heya! I am by no means a fan of the slot adjustment, but I believe the official justification was that due to the nature of the new system, all guilds will end up downsizing in territories.
Since subs won't really be required anymore due to multiple wars at a time being a thing, your member's builds and strategies should matter a lot more than sheer player count.

The only problem is sheer player ammount absolutely does matter. A guild with 60 active players vs a guild that can hold 30 players MAXIUM its very clear who is going to hold the land. I also see no reason why the big guilds will have to downsize what they already own, 80% of these players who are active warrers are already in end game gear. Unless the guild towers are absurdly hard, it is very unlikely they will pose any challenge to the people who already war. The bigger guilds are still going to have an absurdly higher ammount of active players because the smaller guilds wont be able to keep up with the number of active player. Why allow big guilds to have so many players and limit the smaller guilds ability to do the same?

I'd recommend you to take a look at the new system and post I linked, as guilds simply won't be able to hold as much land as before due to resource distribution and balancing without sacrificing defences.
Please also keep in mind that "small guild" does not always equal weak guild. Guilds are meant to be endgame content and not everyone should be able to compete from the get-go. If you can assemble a group of endgame players and come up with a solid strategy (e.g. taking strategic territories, taxing, making allies...) then you'd probably be able to participate and hold a few territories just fine.

While guilds not holding as much land is fine, my guild is a social guild, and I know of other social guilds. This update is essentially killing the concept of a social guild. Glowbulb is gone, so its no long easy to get guild xp. You are essentially forcing all guilds to be a warring guild if you ever want to have more then 20 members. This is also going to kill helping guilds, crafting guilds, and basically all guilds that arent specifically warring guilds. You have forced everyone down a path that they might not have wanted to go down, which seems anti-wynncraft. You can do pretty much all end game content and only need to do 3 quests.

Again, I'd really recommend you to read through the changes; guild territories for now don't even give xp in beta, the rates were adjusted to make levelling quicker and more accessible for everyone.
