I think Wynncraft should support multiple languages. If the server wants to have a larger player base, this is one of the most important points in my opinion.
I know it's a bit of work, but the longer you wait, the harder it gets to translate everything.
You could for example involve the player base in the translation to make the process easier and faster.

Would be far too much work for a marginal benefit imo. I don't see how having different languages available would be important to the server's success, given that most successful servers I know of don't have this as a feature, and their content would require WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY less translating than ours. Translating every single bit of dialogue would be super unrealistic with a team of volunteers.

While I don't think that translating all of Wynncraft is super important for increasing the number of players, because I feel like that anyone who decides to join this server knows at least the basics of English and can somehow navigate, but on the other hand I don't think it's unrealistic to translate everything with just volunteers, I mean that's already kinda happening on the wiki with Quests (I know that all of Wynncraft is much more dialogue than just quests, but I still think that it's not THAT unrealistic)

If you look at the wiki you can see that there are some attempts to translate quests, but it isn't really popular, only about 3 languages were translated (iirc French, Russian and Czech seems promising). If it was more popular perhaps we would translate other things too, but there really doesn't seem to be the need for it.

I'm mostly neutral on this topic. While it would definitely be a good thing to have, I don't think it would be easy to do. Maybe they could add a new branch of the ct, but even then it's still volunteers. It's not garunteed to get done. Also minecraft itself was translated mostly by volunteers, and they had some problems with the translations, since some people cheated with google translate. On a large scale team like mojang and microsoft could form, it's easy to crosscheck and make sure that the translations are reliable. However I doubt that wynncraft could get a large enough team to get even 2 people to translate each line.

I think its a great idea and with volunteers its certainly possible to do, however it is certain that it will take time to do.

There are way too many items and towns and dialogues and just strings of text in general to make this even slightly worth it.

Probably too much work and unnecessary.

Exept the german translation of course. Very important to add that into the game.

if there was a supe easy way to just throw stuff into google's API, then sure, but I don't believe there is so yea. (it would just take all the msgs sent to the player and throw them into google. and even this isn't a great solution)

English is one of the most used languages in the world. And anyone who joined this server, at least, knows basic English. I am not saying that it is useless: It could attract more players for sure, but I don't think they could translate everything with just volunteers.

And translation isn't bad, but doing so needs a lot of extra work for a few bunch of people. (Yea because English is included in the education system of pretty much every places where people can afford a computer and MC account)

The main problem with this is that there is lot to translate, and it would take a very, very long time to do. It would require a large number of hours from at least one person who is fluent in English and whatever language they attempt to translate it to. While the playerbase is reasonably diverse, and there are a large number of bilingual (or more) people in it, it's unlikely you'd be able to find a large number who would be willing to fully or mostly translate thousands of lines of dialogue. While it would benefit a number of players, it's unlikely that it would attract a significant number more people, as English is an extremely popular language despite the fact that's it's terrible, and a large number of people speak it. While this would be a nice feature, it's just one that probably cannot be reasonably added for most languages.

some is actually alr translated on the wiki, but it would be a huge amount of effort to remake code and yml files and so on.

Speaking as someone who was part of the Hypixel Translation Team (Spanish), I can assure you it's grueling work.

The number of words, phrases, idioms, and every other utilization of a language being translated holds a challenge by default, yes. But the very difficult part is translating made-up words, words that are a reference to something within a specific culture, wordplay... you get the idea. Essentially, you'd need to have the people in charge of the lore and storytelling behind Wynncraft to sit down with the translators as they explain the different outcomes they could go for with a specific translation, for every single word that you see in the game.

Remember, there are no direct translations for many things. That's the reason why things like GoogleTranslate don't work too well; they find the "next best" way to describe whatever word you placed in because that language might not have a word for it.

Language is tricky, and molding it to a project that was based on one specific language makes it challenging. Not impossible of course, but unless the demand of the player base reaches that point, I don't believe the time is now for something like that.

didn't think of that, words like "gavel" "fruma" "high gavialien" and maybe even NPC names would need to be translated into well... something that sounds good

Agreed, though you can sometimes get away with leaving city/people names alone as long as the alphabet of the translated language doesn't require a change.

But one key aspect would be something like alliteration; look at some of Wynncraft's quests- "Tunnel Trouble", "Elemental Excercise" "Christmas Chaos", and "Dwarves & Doguns". Already I can tell you for Spanish, the clever alliteration is gone for these instantly unless you "force" a different translation. Or, in the case of "Lost Soles", it's a pun on "Souls", but you'd need to find another way to describe that. It's obvious every word/name/etc has a meaning behind it and wasn't just randomly generated, so it'd be like walking on eggshells when working.
