you make a good argument here. It's also good for the ms, especially when paired with quake or (heaven forbid) chain. It's not gamebreaking, just solid though.

 

I actually never intended to make a thread about whats the #1 best non-mythic item, it kinda just evolved into that. My thread was initially called "The new #1 non-mythic item?" where I just asked if the new item "Gale's sight" would be the best item since that -4 2nd spell cost is really amazing, probably not for PvE but for a grinder like me thats insane and still believe it will be the #1 non-mythic item for lootrunning. I than compared it to suppression (I picked suppression because its the most expensive non-mythic item), which was a mistake since the 2 items are far different, after that people started recommending other PvE items.
I really didnt care enough to make a better thread about it since I don't ever do LI, EO, dungeons, wars or anything really and I didnt know much about most of the items they told me about.

Mmm I absolutely agree with this, it's not really an OP dagger especially considering the fact that most other daggers in the right builds will out-damage Slider (e.g. Blur > Thunder/Air powdered Slider, Black > Fire/Thunder powdered Slider, etc.) but it definitely brings many quality-of-life features that's really nice to have.

 

Honestly there's a reasonable explanation for this: It's not as widely recommended as Black or The Nothing, so people who vote based on recognition won't. People who do know its power tend to vote for more powerful items while realizing it's around 7th on this list.

Not weird at all, and honestly this thread is a mess because armors/accessories/weapons (but mostly weapons) are hard to compare to each other power-wise. Threads for each weapon type, then armor, then accessories would be much better.

Nighthawk is undeniably the best. When it gets nerfed, it'll still be one of the best.

 

Debatable, okr works on all classes, nighthawk is locked on archer
(As just one example, I could've said draoi or dragon's eye too)

 

Yep, even though it basically triples damage, items like Necrosis and Virtuoso are way more flexible and are also ridiculous.

 

Yeah it really depends on the playstyle. Though Nighthawk is pretty much the best option for any DPS spell archer build, regardless of element.
I think one of the qualifiers for being a top tier weapon is having no rival. So pretty much all of the weapons, a lot of the armors, etc.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:
-Suppression and Moon Pool Circlet
Trades 1 extra mana for less powder ability usage, they rival each other
-Tenuto
Too hard to get and doesn't do much in comparison to the others. TWF is already a really saturated archetype.
-Aphotic
Time rift helmet without sorcery.
-Time Rift
NOOO! YOU CANT HAVE GOOD DAMAGE WITH MINIMUM DRAWBACKS! haha sorcery go brrrrr.
If anything the major id actually hinders it.


So here's my list of the best items of each category:
1. Atlas
The literal foundation on which spellsteal is made. Atlas, no pun intended, single handedly carries the archetype.
2. Necrosis
A standout in helmets. Why does it even have +tiers?
3. Libra
Wtf why does it have 8 Sp per element with good damage?
4. Rainbow Sanctuary
Also necessary for most rainbow builds. Though it's more indicative of rainbow archetypes than anything.
5. Sine
15 in both dex and int is absolutely ridiculous by itself. 30% damage overall to thunder and 3/4s ms is even more so.
6. Diamond Hydro Necklace
Pretty much the standard necklace for all intelligence builds
7. Old Keeper's Ring
No reqs, minimal debuffs, and an insane major ID. Sustain slappage.
8. Virtuoso
Definitive evidence of the item team's use of illegal substances

 

Really great list, I don't know if I completely agree with the pick for ring or helmet since I think there's a really strong argument to be made for Draoi Fair and Nighthawk (and call me basic but I think morph stardust is really great too). I also think the armor category in general is a little dicey to rank since items like the ornate shadow armor exist which are both super powerful and splash-able compared to some of your picks which are very specific (which to be fair is why you think they're better in the first place). Really interesting choices for sure though, I never really considered stuff like Atlas and Sine as being all that good before since I've never really thought about it but you're totally right.

I also think Orange Lily should probably be in the honorable mentions for being kinda busted. Also rainbow sanc's nerf is a meme, not sure how that's really relevant to the discussion but I think it needed to be said.

 

I honestly don't see why suppression is on everybody's list, I personally think suppression is bad, and is only good very situationally as it gives a net mana of 0 with perfect rolls, and is also exceedingly expensive

I think tenuto has an argument going for it, but Atlas's existence is also a thing. Tenuto is solid though. Has to compete with dhydro though

I disagree with this being a top pick. If that was the case you'd also have to include aquamarine, sparkling visor (which sometimes defines TWF), among many other things, the helmet slot is a competetive slot. Not to mention that aphotic gives no mana (And Sizzling shawl is a thing)

I strongly disagree with this one having a top slot cuz sorcery is terrible. It messes with spell combos, which significantly reduces dps sometimes, and its inconsistency can lead to mistakes such as dying to eye lazers with a badly timed sorcery charge. I greatly dislike time rift (It's a fun armor piece, but not objectively "good" imo)

As for that, I think the chestplate slot is very competetive. We have medeis, hetusol, soulflare, petrichor, azurite, etc... Libra's good for rainbow, but other chestplates are situationally better.

I am sorry but where did you list LARGE LAPIS ACCESSOIRES?

ig the normal ones dont count bc of dura but what about flipped lapis? -5% spell dmg, +60 int, infinite dura therefore basically not really a crafted item

Apoc gets way higher dmg in tierstack and it's also a bit better in heavy melee

(apoc tierstack can abuse endurance way better than undying tierstack which gives it over 10k more dps)

Sanctuary-like dmg boost while also providing hp, more skill points and -1 tier

 

twf as an archetype is just unfair: medeis, cchain, sine, frenzied mockery, the list kinda just goes on

 

imagine having good options in 3/4 slots instead of 2/4 or 1/4 like most other spell tris.
