World The House Of Twain - An Argumentative Essay

Hello! Now, I can't speak for the rest of Wynncraftians, but I just recently finished the House of Twain, and to be blunt, it was hell. I'm generally a patient guy when it comes to games mechanics, but I almost snapped and gave up when doing this quest! To be honest, I believe this quest needs a very immediate rework, the reward makes the hellish experience only somewhat better. But in the end I had no clue what was going on, mobs were spawning every five seconds to harass you, the third ghost in the garden wasn't spawning, it was way too much.

Firstly, In the Content Team's GM TEAM INFORMATION DOCUMENT (https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/how-to-apply-for-the-official-wynncraft-content-team.89144/) I would like everyone reading to direct their attention to, General Instructions: #5 "5. Always act like the player is a 5 years old. The player isn’t in your head, and it’s always very easy to confuse them. Make everything as easy and obvious as possible.". This is a very important aspect of any rpg game, I'm a D&D Dungeonmaster, and I wholeheartedly agree with this! Yet, in the quest, there are almost no signs at all to direct the player! Yeah, in the servant's quarters there are signs that say the carpet sucks up stuff, but which one? The unlabelled "hopper room", how was I suppose to know to throw 3 JUNK ITEMS into the hopper to then get an unidentified helmet worth 89 emeralds? (Thank god I brought some). When I fell in the iron trapdoor to the cellar, I swear I was stuck; no way back up or anything. I had to look at the wiki, and even then the steps were crazy for the whole quest completion, like, I had to put items on two out of the way pressure plates that have no significance at all? And this is a short quest? If this is short, then I fear the Long Quests, I spent a solid hour wondering what to do!

Secondly, I get it, the quest was huge puzzle, and I had to go around trying to find clues for future steps of the quest. But, as a player, I can say that the quest was not a good experience. I don't want to insult the Content Team, nor Salted, Grian or any other questmaker that exists. But this is on a similar level to what Grian or Salted said on the same GM DOC, "4. Don’t make any mazes. Ever. Those are the devils. No seriously. Ever.", as it really did feel like one the whole way through. A quest with no clues or direction to point you in, unless you fall into the locations that do give vague hints by luck. Sounds like a maze, huh?

In conclusion, I heavily suggest the GM Team fix the house of Twain quest, it's not fun at all, and the experience barely matches with the high reward. I simply ask you consider what I have to say, and if you don't, that's okay, too. But, I speak as a Wynn player, and my this is my suggestion to add/rework/remove from Wynncraft as a whole. I thank you for reading this far, and would love to congratulate Grian and the whole Content Team (Including Mods and the High Staff) for their accomplishments in making an amazing rpg minecraft server, you've done what no one's done! Keep up the good work, excited for 1.20 ;)!

It is calculated by the number of quests (questbook must update) required to complete. Yes, it is stupid. Yes, @Emogla3 made a suggestion for it

 

I see, it's nice to know I'm not the only one. I mean, unironically, if this was what happens when you go to hell, I'm going to start going to church on Sundays every morning.

Yeah, this quest is really annoying.
However, I doubt that it will be reworked in 'Gavel Reborn'.

 

sigh What a shame... It really has to be redone. I nearly gave up doing it since it was so annoying

 

Yeah I always hated that quest because it just is not clear what to do, a much better way that something like it was done in the game is probs a Grave Mistake where there's never really any real handholding telling you what to do but just noticing things is enough for most of it. Also this should be in feedback not general suggestions

 

Also fyi if I remember correctly, the GM doc is highly outdated, so do keep that in mind. Although I think they do still try to keep quests fairly straightforward.

Honestly, I'm impressed over the fact this quest doesn't get talked about a lot when it comes to bad quests
This quest was already bad in 2013 (back when getting the ghost set costed 4LE, one for each piece, y'know, back when every quest gave at best 8EBs and having a single stack of LE was already wild) and it somehow managed to slip through 7 years of updates
It is definitely one of the worst quests in the game, you basically get no clues on what to do at all, and on top of that, the whole you have to fall through in the graveyard has no water, which means you are guaranteed to get hit by fall damage
It is definitely a quest that needs serious rework honestly

 

Very well said! One thing's for sure, I'm not throwing away the ghost cap, but wow is it a painful quest!
