What if in addition to crafting items, you could craft enhancements to items you have to improve their IDs.

I had this idea when I saw someone in discord who had rolled 5 times on a discoverer to only get 65% loot bonus.

I'm not suggesting crafting enhancements to make this a perfect item, just a decent one.

By adding materials with an identification the item has a bad roll on, the item's IDs would increase.
For example, adding loot bonus materials to the 65% LB discoverer, to increase it.

If the material has an identification that is not on the enhanced item, this ID will not be added.

To keep this from disrupting the economy, this would be limited to 2/3 (66%) of the maximum roll of that identification.

    For the Disco example.
Disco has a LB of 46-200%
    The range of this distribution is 154. 2/3 of 154 is 102. 46 + 102 = 148
This means that the crafted enhancements to loot bonus on a disco can't increase it past 148%

This shouldn't impact the trade value of high ID items, so the economy would still be mostly the same.

This enhanced item would now have a durability value, and as this decreases the enhanced Identification would decrease back to the original value.

    For the Disco example
The original Disco has 65% LB, with max enhancements this would be 148% LB
As durability decreases the effective ID would decrease from 148 back to 65.

These items could be repaired in the blacksmith.

Blacklist Fabled and Mythic items from this disgustingly overpowered beef and you'll have a fairly hefty buff to Unique, Rare and Legendary items. This could be used, but I suggest you work on the numbers drastically. 2/3rds of the max possible ID is no joking matter when it comes to upgrading an item.
