Whenever you invest skill points, you can boost your elemental damage. I put most of mine into dexterity and I was wondering by how much does it increase my thunder damage. How much does the increase grow when I add more skill points?

The %thunder damage will be the same as your %chance to do double damage

My current chance is 44%, that means I do 44% more thunder damage? Does this show on the weapon's damage when I hover over it, or is it calculated in the background and you would have to do the math to get the true number?

Clarification on the above - a crit from Dexterity is not double damage, it is actually +100% spell/melee damage - additive with other ID bonuses like those found on armor. (and likewise for Strength's damage boost)

It's calculated in the background - you'd have to do some math. For (a lot) more info: https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/how-damage-is-calculated.176082/ which despite being a few years old is still almost entirely accurate.

If you put your gear into wynndata it should account for your dexterity bonus when it calculates your damage

(and yes on the 44% thunder damage)

Its like having a +44% thunder damage id. So say you deal 100 thunder damage normally. now you would do 144. But if you already have say +50% thunder damage, now you do 194, rather than 216 because both percents are additive, rather than multiplicative (+94%, rather than base thunder damage*1.44*1.50)
