The same reason is here. It would be here to guide the players and (propably) stop things like: "Necromancer would be nice" or "Please add housing".
As I said, if you know what you are doing it doesn't take away too much of your freedom, but I have to agree about new players turning away and I tried to adress that with "Drafts" subsection.

For me it would be even enough to scrap the whole idea and just add the first page with check box.
I am not saying their suggestions are bad. I agree sometimes simple and short is better than long.

please, don't stop and apply for CT already

The thing is, and I speak with a high degree of experience in this, brand new users will still continue to post in the incorrect section. When vet users then say "wrong section" in sometimes an aggressive way, that can have a giant, negative impact on a user's experience. Other minecraft networks' communities are no gems: most other networks have even more toxic and degrading communities. I'm not asking everyone to be nicer to one another but aggression or even sarcasm can really tamper with new user's experience.

I see where you are coming from with the drafts subsection. I'm not saying that's a bad idea, I just don't think it would mend well here at this current time. General suggestions are not specified to be well thought out or super specific suggestions (although these types of suggestions are definitely more pleasant / fruitful to read). That being said, I've combed through many pages in this section, not at all distracted by some not as descriptive ones.

I realize that as a valued member of the community you feel that general suggestions need more thought or more content. Heck I would be frustrated too in your shoes. The bug reports form was added as a means to boost QA's efficiency in processing reports. It draws out QA's ability to give support when we must ask for additional information that wasn't initially there to begin with. I think if the current status of the suggestions section gets to a point, as you alluded to, where there are so many poorly written suggestions it's hard to find the good ones, then a draft section + form may be a good course of action. As it stands right now, I, and other members of the development team, are not overly frustrated by the poorly written suggestions and it definitely doesn't prevent me from reaching all of the good ones. As I mentioned just a few sentences ago, I actively read general suggestions. AND Website or Game suggestions are suggestions I can personally see to implementing if it's passed through our internal evaluation process.

    Side Note:
Typically I can identify a poorly written suggestion just from the title. That doesn't mean I don't click on it, but I know that if there's a good title, there is likely a good suggestion. Here's an example:
    1. "I got a really cool idea" vs "Better Banks"
    2. "New Class" vs "New Class: Necromancer"
#2 is a semantic difference but it does say a lot about the suggestion.

I really like general suggestions that also properly use "QoL" (Quality of Life). Not all suggestions should have that in the title/body, but when used appropriately, it definitely catches my attention more.

tl;dr I genuinely think this is a well thought out, well written, and good intentioned suggestion. But I have some reservations.

ok most of shit out of the way, i do feel like general suggestions needs a rework

as of now, probably at least half of the "suggestions" are either fever dreams or a random, undeveloped though that popped into a player's head during the game. the saddest part? some of the suggestions have potential, but it is wasted by the post

making a form to fill out would require the player to put baseline information that is lacking in most of the threads. even if the form doesn't follow a specific format, a way to guarantee certain information to suggestions would be hugely beneficial

for example, if a player selected the "new class" form or whatever the categories happen to be, it should require a name and a few other things (personally i would like to see reskin names, spell names, maybe spell costs, and the ratings that add up to 13, but honestly any baseline information other that "i think a class that can summon mobs to fight for them is cool")

forcing players to put a bit of time into the suggestion will:
    a) increase the overall quality of the suggestion and
    b) cull the amount of low-effort suggestions-- not calling anyone out. but i feel like some people just submit for the sake of posting something. if they have to put thought into their responses, it would likely shoo away this type of person

even if we don't get a form, at the very least, can threads in general suggestions get an automatic poll with a minimum of a yes and no option, with other options that the original poster can add? honestly, probably less than half of the threads have a poll, which in general suggestions can actually serve a purpose.

I would say more active. There are more valued members.

I am not frustrated, I am sad that some ideas are just repeating without new thoughts (there are exceptions) or they are good ones but missed because of lack of details.

I am glad to gear that!
I thought (and I guess that many agree) most of the staff doesn't read them much. Thanks for proving me wrong!

Some suggestions that would be considered a "new feature" go through a more complex evaluation process. But typically website/forums or even small game stuff that seems like a good QoL I usually try to sneak in there. One I recall was "disable crafting while dueling" which, tbh, should've been in-game to begin with.

I agree with absolutely everything except this part. New player retention being affected by toxic (but brutally honest) criticism in a category that affects only a handful of new players? Doesn't really make sense.

Overall though, I do agree that most of us (including me) could and should definitely be nicer. We all started with a bad class suggestion... My 2016 monk suggestion still haunts me.

I was about to say that my first suggestion wasn't a class suggestion, but my idea on how to improve (improve from the perspective of me after staying up too late) horses came rather close. And although I never actually made a suggestion on it, when I first heard that the shaman class was going to be added, I immediately began to think of what the ranked varient may be (I thought it would be a druid with spell reskins of alter for totem, drag for haul, something-I-can't-remember for aura, and summon for uproot). Had there been something to make me think more about the horse idea, I may have gone to bed and posted it in the morning, when I would have been able to put more thought into it.
