Better Music

Wynncraft has its own texture pack so you can make custom music discs which can be used on dungeon boss battles? Why not use that instead of noteblocks? Less laggy music and better music?

 

The note blocks don't cause a lot of lag (do they?), although an imperfect internet connection can make the music sound weird.

There are a limited number of sound events in Minecraft that can be used. Limiting the custom music via sound files to dungeon bosses seems like it could work as it would only use a dozen or so sound events. However, I am against using unique instrument sounds for this.

 

I just listen to my own music anyway, I don't like the Wynncraft music (although the instrumental versions of the tunes aren't that bad).

Yes I know but it would be better if they just used the same music but non noteblock versions of it

 

I believe one of the reasons why this isn't a thing is that it'd make the resource pack way larger than it needs to be, extending load times for each time you use it. other than that, I personally feel a completely different style of instrumentation would sound out of place when the rest of the game is in noteblocks; it would need to be made to work well and also fit decently in the context of the song

 

i don't think resource packs can use any other music than noteblocks

 

I dont mind the music but the lag related stuttering and minecraft's inherent lack of variety in time signatures kind of ruins it for me. Client side music would fix those problems but would bloat the resource pack. An alternative would be a program separate from the game itself that takes your position from the api and plays the according piece (though it wouldn't be as convenient as ingame server side music and I personally dont think it would be used enough for the trouble it causes). Having non noteblock music is a whole other problem.

 

Also music discs announce their use and only work in a certain range. Noteblock music is better.

They should just make the minium version 1.12 and then we would have all the new noteblock sounds
