    Self explanatory.

The help role is currently on a few people who basically never show up to help when it's pinged in desperation. The role could be reused as a role that would ping people who consistently and willingly help, like me, @MrYoghurt2004, @Ajroets, @99loulou999, @MarioYoshiBoo, @Chrysitis, @btdmaster, @millewave, and many others I probably don't know. Now I'm not saying that the people I listed (including myself) don't make mistakes or that we know everything, but we know enough and...

more importantly: We're actually there and actually answer hundreds of questions a day, assisting new players, encouraging them, and helping them with basically everything!!
out of our own free will, not asking for any perks, just enjoying the game in our own way by helping others enjoy it with less frustration! From telling them that they can /kill to unstuck, to helping them beat qira, anything and everything is important as long as it's there. As long as it exists. As long as people actually help.

(oh btw I don't know a lot of the people I listed at all, I just see them when I answer questions and help people)

Now here's a point by millie
    upload_2020-5-24_3-11-6.png

Mods don't come and help people very often. That's not the issue. That's a given. Mods are mods, not basic question answerers. They didn't sign up to answer questions and get pinged to answer questions. A certain QA member does also help a lot, but they're the exception, not the rule. Why would CT help when that's not what they signed up to do? (0 sarcasm here, this is actually me being serious, they didn't sign up for this)

So utilize the "Help" role to actually help people and give it to those who are already helping, make it the new pinged role instead of Moderator! (which barely pings anyone, since moderators aren't necessarily moderator)

This is actually a change I'm really hoping to see in the Wynncraft Discord, not just because I agree with all of these points, but also because of how this will be a step in the right direction to organize the server into a more "user friendly" one (maybe one day we'll get more community roles if we get this one!).

Oh hey, gotta give a piece of my mind too!

I do believe it could be a voluntary role that everyone can self assign using a bot or something, this way everybody can help and if they don't like getting pinged just being able to remove the role off their profile as easy. Everyone can help each others ;)

I would agree, if it wasn't for the already prevalent trolling of new players that's pretty ingrained into the wynn discord's culture. That's the issue preventing me from supporting a voluntary role.

I mean, it doesnt stop other players from calling out trollers on their bs, example I think of at 3 am:

LeNewbee: hey guys how do I walk from Ragni to Detlas @(The role designed for help)

xX_BadMan_Xx: you have to do /kill 10 times and you will get to Detlas, trust me ;^)

SeveralPeopleAreTyping: no don't, this user is telling a lie and you should not /kill in this Situation!

AnotherUser: indeed it is a fake advice, do not /kill.

Also I dont really believe any person with the intent of trolling new players would last for long on the questions channel without getting massively shooed away, help role or not

Edit: added colours to simplify as suggested by @TrapinchO

Some people help without wanting a rank, if the rank would only show up on the forums anyway how will that alert new people who mostly don't use the forums/discord, in-game with a helper? Personally I think they should just scrap the helper rank as it's basically useless if you say that the helpers don't do anything and that people offer what they think is help anyway.

Out of interest do you mean helper rank on forums, discord, in-game of a mixture?
As I don't think the forums should have the helper rank, but maybe on the discord to avoid confusion. In-game people just help others and if you had the helper rank and got messaged a lot it may be very annoying for them

    Haha subtle brag ;)

Gosh you are taking this very seriously aren't you

Did you read the suggestion? This is 100% about discord idk where you got anything else from. It's not a helper rank as well, it's specifically a "help" role that you can ping to get an answer to a question in #questions.
And yeah, I'd say catering to new players is pretty important- they're what keep the game alive...

I agree definitely, a lot of people are put off in the early levels so I think they should make the tutorial more interesting as well, but that's a bit off topic

Very good suggestion, perhaps there would be some sort of help head or council that could vote people in similar to a guild? I think I’m overthinking this but great suggestion!

    Great idea, won't work.

To come up with the biggest issue: keeping up with all the roles and people will turn into a mess at some point. Choosing certified people and making sure everything stays clean and neat will take a bunch of moderation 24/7, and i doubt this will work out seeing previous events.
Not only that, but it can also quickly evolve into a 'certified cool person' cult of some sort, which could lead to toxicity, dividing of groups or other problems in that direction. Imagine 10 people reacting to a single ping within seconds. Unless every single one of the people with the role are part of 1 big friend group, stuff like that WILL happen at some point, even if it's behind the scenes.

And if i may bring my personal opinion: why does somebody who 'helps a lot' need a role for that?
I have been helping out a bunch of people whenever nobody else seemed to be around, meaning it is very inconsistent whenever i'm helping or not. And this is how it should be.
Who knows how many active users the discord has, so helping shouldn't be tied down to a discord role in the first place. It's a community effort to make sure new and confused players know what's up. If you're around, feel free to help where you can, and if you're not around (sleeping, busy, offline), other people available can do that. The role will only cause more problems than it will do any good if it's tied down to people who call themself 'active and helpful', considering there are like 50+ questions asked a day probably. Imagine getting a ping for every single one of these while trying to enjoy wynn yourself or trying to live a normal human life. It should be in your own interest, at your own available times that you're being supportive to the community.

Some people might be wondering why the help role was created in the first place anyway then. For me, it seemed like it was created for people who are ALREADY in the wynn team (both CT and Mods) to be a little extra help, that does not include actual Moderator assistance for cases like hacking or chat stuff. Problem being, after checking the roles, the help role is like on <2% of team members. Maybe nobody wants the role, maybe some don't have the time in their hands to be an active help whenever. To that i say:

I do think the role needs some more attention and work, but getting normal players involved is not the right move. As i said, it should be a community effort and not forced by a role or by getting pings, with possibly multiple people trying to answer something at once.

Maybe we should start by actually making sure the role is noticed in the first place
